There is one hotel in Luxor that offers a choice of all inclusive. The Pyramisa Isis calls itself a 5* hotel although personal experience suggests to me that this is a slight exaggeration. I did look at some reviews last year but they weren't too good. That does not mean that they haven't got it right now so i'd do a search for reviews in the last few months.
Mags is right that there is a wide choice of good cheap places to eat, but for me, an all inclusive package also holds the attraction of not running up a huge bar bill in the hotel as well as being able to eat what and when you want.

Hi,

From past experience - Egypt is so cheap I don't personally feel it is worth going for an AI hotel for a number of reasons:

*It is cheap to eat out
*Only spirits & wine is really expensive
*There are such a choice of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets
*You would miss out on a great experience in Luxor if you tie yourself to one hotel for the duration

We always choose B&B board basis and try as many places to eat as possible but we always have to go back to El Hussain's by the new market for his hot & spicy tomato soup!

Enjoy - you will be returning in no time at all..... Egypt is fab

I would'nt go A1 here either. So many good, cheap restaurants with great Egyptian & European cuisine. As mentioned The Pyramisia is the only hotel I know that provides A1 & it's definitely not 5* maybe 3-4*. The Sonesta, Sheraton, New Winter Palace, Nile Palace, formerly Le Meridian are all pretty good hotels.

I can recommend the Sheraton's Italian restaurant... best service, food, atmosphere we have had ever.

Hi again,
We do have a McDonald's, KFC & Pizza Hut here & lots of great places offering typical English food too so don't think you will have a problem eating out even with teenagers. PM me if you want a some recommendations.

thanx iberis, i think i`m more worried abt the east/west split... bombs.. and anything else(muslims and brits)... i think live and let live...we all live our lives how we want to..BUT for my kids i`m a bit scared, actually i`m shii**ing myself incase anything happens. we have all tried to learn some arabic (basic stuff, please and thankyou etc) but i worry abt going out and about incase some people take offence if we say or do something `wrong`

Sharon,
We have been holidaying in Egypt since 1992 and we are shortly due to take our 5th trip to Luxor next week. A friend of ours (single lady) has also been travelling alone to Egypt for longer than us and is ready for booking again next summer.

The Egyptians are some of the most friendliest people we have ever come across with a good sense of humour too. We have never been in a position that we have felt we have done anything wrong or made any kind of "gaff."

One of the shop owners took a day off work last time to borrow his brothers taxi to drive us to Edfu temple. We travelled in the convoy to the temple and were instructed to meet Said at the local "mens" cafe. I was the only female there and I was wearing shorts. I got no odd looks or resentment from the men who were there.

I tend to wear a longer pair of shorts (although still above the knee) when sightseeing and shopping than I would to wear to the hotel swimming pool. I still wear vest tops but nothing cut to flash the cleavage!

You will have a splending time, I'm sure and will be looking forward to planning your next trip very soon.

Enjoy!
