My favourite this year has to be Vrundavan in Calangute. Food is beautiful (especially chicken shahi korma mmmmmm) and staff are really friendly!

I'm glad i'm not the only person that thinks the Stonehouse is going down hill, it was one of our favourites until the last time. My hubbie had one of his best tops on (white I know, he's such a poser!) but the waiter dropped a fork all down his top and shorts which was covered in a curry sauce. He was not best pleased but wouldn't of had a problem if the waiter had apologised but he just stood staring and didn't say a word and they expected us to pay for the meal, which we obviously didn't! This is one place we will not be returning to again.

I agree with you OAP. My O/H and I tried the Stonehouse after reading lots of recommendations on this site, but were really disappointed. The food was just average, (I could have cooked it better) .The music was sooooo loud we couldn't have a conversation. Twice we asked for it to be turned down a bit but the requests were completely ignored, we then decided we would'nt go back. We feel there are many better restaurants in the Candolim area that we would rather spend our money in!

Went to Sublime twice last time we were in Goa. The first time it was fab so highly recommended to friends who were holidaying with us, well could not believe the change, the steak was off and had a real funny taste to it, needless to say we all only had a couple of mouthfulls we were all too embarrassed  to complain and were all really ill the next day. Put me off going back there..

Chris was the chef and joint ower of Sublime and last season he left and opened a restaurant in Anjuna - this is why it is not as good as it used to be.

Sorry to say that he was still there when we ate there!

We ate at Sublime in November and February and thought it was fabulous. I know it is owned by an English gentleman, but dont know what his name is, would have no hesitation returning.

We, too, ate there in November (twice) and again in April, the night before they closed for the season, otherwise we would have been back. It is highly recommended.

Never had a bad meal at Sublime and have eaten there loads, what a shame that your experience wasn't so good mk61, I know when you have a bad meal it does put you off but perhaps you should try it again next time you go, and don't be afraid to say if something isn't right.

We went to Sublime a lot in January this year. We loved it, every meal was excellent but you can be unlucky in any restaurant. It happened to me when we went to another very popular restaurant in Baga. The meal was just OK, nothing special and I was a bit disappointed really as the restaurant came highly recommended. Straight after the meal we took a taxi back to our hotel. As soon as I got out of the taxi I started to feel ill, really ill. After an hour or so of constant D&V my husband became really concerned and called a doctor. I have never touched a chicken tikka since and I used to love them but I was so ill just the thought of one turns my stomach. I wont give the name of the restaurant but if anyone wants to know send a P.M.

Minnie didnt say she was PMing you Tony
So anyway back on subject, is your favourite restaurant mentioned in the list Fiona has made up?
Reply
Sorry Gemma

No, don't really use restaurants, prefer the shacks, more personal, people seem more at ease to to speak to strangers and have met many friends in this way :D Most of them are in the north, stay in the south :!:
