has anyone been there this year, unfortunately we booked the hotel before looking at the reviews and a lot of people say the food is awfull, has it improved and can anyone give me some more information on the hotel,i will be going in july
thankyou
i would not get too worked up about the possible quality of the food. most hotels in costa brava serve buffet meals that offer a plentiful choice, but may not be what we are used to at home.
the temperature will almost certainly be lower than we are used to, but most hotels have a microwave if you need to heat anything up.
most complaints are to do with lack of choice, but i have found that there is always a variety of meals on offer in all hotels including a fish dish, a pasta dish, a couple of meat dishes, chips, occassionally some veg(normally tinned or frozen) and a selection of salads.
the hotels will use the cheapest meats available to them locally, so you will end up with pork/turkey and veal featuring heavily on the menus.they seem to try to plan menus a week at a time so they do get repetitive if you arer there for 2 weeks.
if you accept from the start that you are not going to see sirloin steak and king prawns on the menu, and that these hotels are providing a meal to satisfy your hunger rather than a meal you would choose if dining out in the UK, you will not go far wrong.
everyone's idea of what is good food, and not, are different. some people think a big mac is a wholesome meal while others would not touch one with the proverbial bargepole.
expect to find a variety of food on offer -some of which you may have eaten before and some you can try for the first time and treat it as an experience.
if the food is indeed so very bad as to be inedible, as opposed to being not to your taste, you will have to see your tour rep when in resort and maybe get moved.
there are plenty of restaurants/cafes/bars around the hotel serving all sorts of different foods including english, spanish, chinese, indian and mexican.
hope this helps.
have a great time.
thankyou for the information,i have been to the hotel esplai a few times and the meals wasnt to good there,i just hope they are not worse
ha nybody been lately,i am going on the 27th july and wondering if the food has got any better
