Hi
We are planning to go on an organised Canvas/Eurocamp type trip next year in setup tents. We will stay for around 21 days in July/August.
We have two kids 4 and 6. So any trip really is geared to them rather than us.
Our current thinking is either a 4 campsite trip or a 3 campsite trip...
The 4 -trip would be to St Austin in Normandy for 4 nights, Ty Nadan in Brittancy for 7 nights, Zagarella in Vendee for 7 nights and Pierrefitte or Parc de Fierbois in the Loire for 3 nights.
Any comments on these campsites? Would you choose Pierrefitte or Fierbois?
The reason for including the Vendee is weather - the alternative is to have longer at each of the other three sites - maybe 10/11 nights at Ty Nadan?
What do you guys think? Can anyone comment on the suitability of the various sites for short bike rides we can take the kids on? any parks/zoos or other attractions we can go to if the weather is bad?
Is it worth going to the Vendee for the weather - in which case should way stay longer at our two main sites and just do stopovers en route?
We are thinking about going to Calais rather than Cherbourg - partly due to cost, and my untried sealegs, and partly as it seems to be more flexible - ie. if you miss the ferry or arrive at the port early you have a reasonable chance of getting another one.
The other route we are thinking of is Petit Bois near St Malo and then to Les Sable d'Olonne - maybe with Ty Nadan in the middle - anyone been to these? Do you think this would be better for the kids than going to the Loire? It would mean long drives to/from Calais at either end unless we do Cherbourg.

I don't know any of these sites but having had many holidays with Canvas I am confident that they will be of a high standard and enjoyable.
In particular I am interested in hearing about whether moving from site/site is hassle... and whether people think with young kids its better to drive longer/stay longer or split the holiday into shorter drives and more sites....

Hi, we have been holidaying under canvas for a few years now. With Keycamp and Eurocamp, only this year did we decide to have a stopover and to be honest it was more hassle than it was worth. However it's up to you!! The further south you go generally the better the weather we've found. Maybe you should think of traveling a bit further south with a stopover??
The only time we did a 1 site holiday we travelled to Spain. Stopped twice on the way down at Formule 1 hotels and the same on the way back. Far easier than stopping overnight in a tent in my opinion.
Whatever you choose I'm sure you will enjoy it.
far too small for the site (including the wave machine), and more importantly the site itself is miles from anywhere.
Would recommend it for a short stopover but not as a base for a holiday. One or two days would be more than enough for me!!

By Pierrefitte guess you mean Parc Des Alicourts? Went there last year for an overnight stop on the way to and from Vias (on the med). To be honest its an impressive site with top facilities and a fab lakeside setting, problem is the pool is Would recommend it for a short stopover but not as a base for a holiday. One or two days would be more than enough for me!!
