Only advice I can give is that you don't need 14 pairs of knickers! I used to take 2 pairs per day but have now worked out that you can rinse them out and you only need 4 pairs! Sad, I know but it also works with tops, shorts, skirts etc. If they can be rinsed and dried in a day then you only need half as many as you thought you did.

clean top for every evening, to go with 3/4 bottoms

2 evening cover ups

4 pairs shoes, 2 handbags

1 white bra & 1 black if needed if not 2 white

What!!!!! 2 bras but no knickers? I'm with Prawn on not needing 14 prs but none at all? This commando thing is definitely getting out of hand :-)

Personal tip is to take just flesh/nude coloured underwear - goes under everything without running the risk that the only clean top left is white and the only clean underwear is black! Seriously, even white underwear can show through white clothes - a look I personally really hate!

Try and colour co ordinate your wardrobe around your main staple colours rather than take 15 different outfits like I used to.

At least then whatever tops you take you'll know they will match up with the bottoms.

Debbg has it about right, doesn't seem alot to take but think about it logically you don't need much else (apart from your knickers SMa)

take me too long to list what I take- but it has got less over the years and Yes I do manage to wear just about everything. The good thing for me is that hubby is quite happy with a handful of clothes so we've never been over the luggage weight allowance.

I do agree that you don't need loads of knickers. I tend to wear skin coloured underwear and just rinse them out and hang to dry overnight.

When I go for a fortnight (and my sister's the same) I have first week clothes and second week clothes (which are a lot looser to allow for the excessive eating and drinking). That way we always feel comfortable.
Then when I get home I'm struggling to fit into my ordinary clothes

I always find a local laundrette and get bits washed as time goes on- last time we went away for two weeks we only had 17kg between the two of us, and most of that was my books!!!

Whatever you think you need spread itout, half it then pack it. I figure if I desperately need something I can buy it there

Think i pack everything but the sink with me. Just been away for a week managed to pack 23kg of things but now im worried cos we go away again in 4 weeks but for 2 weeks this time but only allowed 20kg dont no what i can leave behind.

I used to pack everything i could find!!! this year though i've ordered my clothes from LXDirect and their beachwear comes in 4 colours, black, white, pink & turquoise!

For 2 weeks I've got:

4 sun dresses (one in each colour lol)
4 tops (again one in each colour)
4 vest tops for over my bikini in town etc (again, one in each colour...see the pattern here lol)
3 pairs of shorts (surprisingly in white & pink, and one pair in lemon)
2 pairs of 3/4 length trousers, one black, one pink)
flip flops
night time shoes
4 pairs of knickers
2 skin colour bras!
2 pairs of jammies!

seems loads and looks loads when spread out on the bed! i worry i've not got enough but i know i usually take 14 different outfits for 2 weeks and half of them never see the light of day!!

I think it makes a difference whether you're staying in a hotel or going SC too.....

if you're eating out at a different place every night, it doesn't matter if you've only got a couple of outfits, but in a hotel, you might want to ring the changes more often!!!!!!

I always pack way too much but I have learnt a really neat trick - half whatever your husband is taking and there is more room for your stuff :lol:.

Seriously though, I do look at what I pack now and take out about three or four outfits that I know that I wont wear because im only taking them "just in case".

I do take 14 knickers but only because I buy new and they are all neatly packed in a little pouch that doesn't take up much room (have to buy new knickers every year !). I only take two or three costumes (don't do bikinis anymore ) that can easily be washed out. A couple of daytime 3/4 trousers with vest tops and a couple of evening 3/4 trousers plus a couple of skirts. A few mix and match tops that will go with whatever bottoms are being worn. Thats pretty much it. I take a pair of jeans which I travel in and travel home in, then if it does get a bit chilly I have a pair of jeans. I always take two wedgie sandals (to mix and match depending on which top I am wearing), one pair of flip flops and a pair of trainers - always :).

Oh, and also take enough washing powder to do a bit of hand washing in case of emergency spillages.

I always take enough underwear for the whole holiday, whether 1 or 2 weeks, I hate the thought of handwashing it, and knickers & bras don't exactly weigh much anyway.
I do a colour scheme for each holiday so I can mix and match various tops/¾ trousers/bikinis/shorts/bag/shoes... I also "dirty out" last night's top on the beach the next day (unless it's a very "dressy" one of course). On my holiday this Easter I had everything in brown, khaki, coral and ivory, from swimwear to evening wear, so I could swap things about each day. For our upcoming August holiday I am planning on wearing mostly hot pink and khaki with a touch of black or denim here and there. Nobody notices if you wear the same ¾ trousers for 2 or 3 evenings during the holiday as long as you space the evenings out and wear a different top each time. I've paid for extra baggage with Thomson this year (5kg each on top of usual 20kg allowance) but I'm not overpacking on the way out there because I plan to bring back lots of cheap booty
Going for a week is easy, 2 or 3 pairs of ¾ trousers for evenings with 7-8 tops (wear in the evenings, then "dirty out" the next day), 3 or 4 bikinis, 1 or 2 pairs of lightweight flip flops, some nice strappy shoes for evening (two pairs if they're light enough) and enough underwear for the whole holiday. You don't even need tons and tons of suncream for one week, and you can get away with a couple of travel size bottles of shower gel, shampoo etc.

I am a worrier. Worry that I wont have enough clothes with me. Worry that the peeps in the dining room will say "look at her wearing that top again", worry that if anything happens to me I will only have one nightdress, so better take another and a light dressing gown. My list is huge Worry that the supplied hairdryer is not as powerful as my own. so take it too. Then there's my iron, mustn't let people see my wrinkled clothes. Must have my flimsy bra with the plastic straps for daytime, and then the slightly padded strapless one for evening. Then there's the slippers, flipflops, sandals, high heels. What about the wee cardigan incase the plane is draughty Oh, forgot about the different handbags and the bumbag, the spare glasses and the spare sunglasses, just incase. Oh, the belts and the jewellery, the various dresses, tops, crop trousers, swimsuits, sarongs, toeposts, beach bag Going away in 2 weeks and exhausted already thinking about the packing

You forgot the suntan creams, after sun, cleanser, toner and moisturisers for the face, the make-up, lippy, mascara etc...plus the hair stuff.

The kitchen sink, the plumber.......Only joking.

Sanji, you are so right, Have just renembered the phone and the charger, the plugs and the adaptors, the spare mirror. the first aid kit,and have not got round to hubby's stuff yet

The actress Denise Welsh who is on Loose Women does a column with Coleen Nolan in Woman magazine. I kid you not she says that she takes paper knickers on holiday with her. She says she used to buy them in packs from boots but now swipes them from the beauty salon. So she can throw them away each day.

She didn't sound like she was joking either!

That could have been me describing my packing it was so spot on. My only concession and lesson learnt from all my holidays is DECANT. All the people I go away with take the mickey out of my mad decanting of everything toiletry & make up wise.

I have little bottles (different one's for 1 or 2 weeks obviously ) I then have a little label machine and I make labels for every item, of course only I understand the abbreviations (to fit the bottle you understand ) shampoo becomes Spoo, conditioner = Cond but the best are the named items Example: Nicky Clarke heat protector becomes NC Ht Pro Oh well as long as I understand it

I even decant some make up items.....less of these and the toiletries means more clothes space.

I'll bet there's loads of us "what if" "just incase" people out there, I wonder if it's a star sign "thing" mmmmmm I might investigate that, perhaps Libra = control freak, maximist, pessimist
p.s. As for the paper knicker thing.....eugh, I don't fancy "rustling" on my holidays.......well, unless I was in Texas of course

Decanting is a great idea and I keep meaning to do it. My major luggage weight is all the toiletries!

I have some small travel sized make up remover/cleanser/toner etc. which I'm going to take this time (I always think they look too small and aren't enough for a fortnight but they will be).

I've been decanting stuff for years now and I always keep small samples that I am given to take away at weekends. My cousin travelled with me once and after seeing my small jars of everything started to do the same and she then bought her mum a set of small empty plastic bottles from Superdrug to fill up with shampoo etc. when she went away. Saves a lot on weight and space.
I travel a lot with just hand luggage and the small bottles are just right to fit in the plastic bag that has to be used for security.
