Hi,
I am in the process of trying to book a 2 week break for February next year. We are pretty tied as to what dates we go, a Friday flight is almost essential as hubby can only take 10 days off work so we have booked time off from 1st Feb.
This will be our 4th visit to Goa in as many years. We originally stayed in the Osborne, then stayed in Victor Exotica, but went back to the Osborne on our third stay as we just prefer the location. We're creatures of habit and like having our breakfast upstairs in Babute's each morning and the fact that there are a couple of supermarkets on the doorstep.
Because we are so restricted on when we can go, although we would like to stay in the Osborne again, I don't really want to restrict us further.
I guess what I'm asking is can anybody help with alternative hotels in roughly the same area as the Osborne? Doesn't have to be on the doorstep - off holiday road or even a bit further along the main Candolim to Baga road would do, as long as it's somewhere near.
We don't mind basic, as long as its clean and has a fridge or mini bar in the room - we only tend to use the hotel as a base, we never spend much time there.
Sorry if I've gone on a bit, hubby always says that if something can be said in 3 words, I'll find 10!!!!!
Cheers!
Lisa
I can't seem to see the Osborne on the map or get my bearings as to roughly where it would be, am I being totally blind (probably!!).
I think the area I'm looking at is off the bottom of the map so the places that are shown are a little further out than we wanted to stay - am I right?
Lisa
I think the Tio carmino hotels near the Osborne if its near Holiday street, and also the Nizmar
PS Osborne isnt on the map I think Johns maps are all a little outdated now unless he has revisited
Good luck if I think of any others will let you know
cheers

thanks for that, what a mine of information!!! Do you have an apartment that you rent out? I'm sure you contacted me last year when we were considering just booking flights and finding accommodation when we got there. Didn't manage to get to Goa last winter though (for the first time in 3 years!), we moved house and unfortunately didn't have the spare cash. Can't tell you how much we missed it, that's why I wanted to book for next year so that I know that we're definately going - we need our fix!!
Have decided to just book with Jewel in the Crown who, as far as packages go, I think are the only ones who are using the Friday flight. We're a bit scared the flight might get totally booked up so are just gonna bite the bullet and book it. Did look at flight only but that particular flight wasn't coming up much cheaper than the package.
We're also gonna stick with what we know and stay at the Osborne, they do say it's better the devil you know!! Think we might do a bit of research whilst we're out there this time though as far as accommodation goes, be nice to try somewhere different?
For now, 1st February can't come soon enough - I can already taste the tandoori chicken with butter garlic naan washed down with Wildberry Bacardi Breeze (why can't we buy these here?)
Thanks again to Lockieman and Yummymummy also, much appreciated!!
Take care
Lisa
Enjoy your holiday Looby - I will be there in Feb as well
Im also staying at the Osborne, but this December.
Lockieman, we might see you there then - hubby dying for that first "Kingfisher Pint" !!
Whey-hey!!!!!!!
Looby, we dont own an apartment we rented it and it was a bit of a disaster but thats life - Osborne is a great hotel as previously stated we stayed there 4/5 times until we moved on to other things
