i think its because she loves me,but i will check on this.
day 10.
woke at 11,no breakfast today (now theres a surprise)headed for the pool, where i remained all day consuming large amounts of black coffee and coke,no beer for me today.
just as i was feeling human again i glanced over to a table where a crowd of russian blokes were seated, then i noticed what they were doing, there was a freshly caught raw fish laying on the table along side a huge bowl of cherries, then they begun to tuck in,a hand full of fish then a cherry followed by a small glass of vodka, thanks lads your making me feel so much better i think to myself.
by the time evening arrives im back on song and we head down for our meal (for some reason i cant seem to remember what we had).
we left the girls to go to the show whilst we jumped on a dolmus and visited kemer as its only 20 minutes away.
nice enough place but after being hassled a few times i realised that i was not on song after all,we decided to head back to the hotel and was tucked up in bed by midnight.
day 11.
that early night did the trick, woke at 7,put my towels down on the sunbeds marking out my patch for the day, then back to the room to wake the gang, yet another day spent around the pool topping up the tan, thats coming along nicely, peppered steak for dinner, then up to the turkish cafe (the scene of jaynes lap of honor)to watch liverpool take on milan in the champions league final, after the game we nipped into the club until 2.30.
to be continued...
damn that club, same old story, woke at 10.30 and missed breakfast again, good job its not the only meal of the day, gotta wait for the grub at the beach bar now.
yet another lazy day around the pool, soaking up the sun and fun.
the evening meal once again was a mystery but nice all the same.
damn that club again,it enticed me in again until 1.30,when will i learn, never i hear jayne scream.
to be continued...
up and at em today 8 o'clock, enjoyed a nice breakfast consisting of hard boiled eggs, cheeses, fresh bread and coffee.
had a walk out to the shops and small market, the shop sellers banter gets worse with every season, one guy shouts out "HELLO IS IT ME YOUR LOOKING FOR(no where near as good as lionel richie)another shouts,ELLO MATE YOU FROM ENGLAND,DO YER STILL AV FISH AND CHIPS ON A FRIDAY.
oops sorry briar used me caps to get the shouting bit across.
it didn't take me long to get bored of the shops and yacking,so we headed back to the pool.
it was to be a beach party,bar-b-q and fireworks display tonight, but this has been scrapped as they feared it would rain,so its another foam party at the night club again.
time for our evening meal,as we walked into the restaurant we could see chef carving away at an elephants leg (dona kebab)so we approached to let him know that we were there, now all i said to him was, good evening chef,we have them back home in england,i quite like them with chili sauce when i come out of the pub,yes-yes-yes chef replies,we then took our usual table in the restaurant,30 minutes later we see the waiter heading our way, mmm, whats it to be hon steak or chicken i say to jayne,as the plates are placed in front of us i felt her eyes burning through my head, what,i said, you dick head she replies, the chef thought we wanted donar kebab being as you kept going on about it,oops, never mind a,i enjoyed it anyway, lol.
after the meal the girls went to the show, but we went over to the pool bar for a couple of quite drinks before the club opens.
once again the girls loved the foam party, but this time we refrained and sat at the bar, people watching.
to be continued...
Bibbs I think you could get a job with the turkish tourist agency tomorrow if you wanted ,great posts hope ther is not an anti climax at the end .regards Bluepeterno1
have you got hold of a copy of my script, the job parts coming up soon.
and no i never do anti climaxes lol.
Great bibbs ,just love a good ending .regards
didn't make breakfast, but did manage to get off the sunbed long enough to take out a canoe and go snorkeling, bumped into sonay during the morning,he invited me to go out on his speed boat around 5ish,but by the time 5ish had come i had forgotten all about it,so i missed out on that treat, gutted never been on one of them.
yet another great show by the animation team, then on to the club, but didn't stay late,i think its getting to me now,may need another holiday to get over this one.
oh nearly forgot, chicken for dinner, done in a gorgeous sauce.
to be continued...
up early,nice change,had some breakfast.
another day spent around the pool having a giggle with the animation team.
yet another lovely meal from chef, but once again i dont know what it was.
showtime again then night club, jayne and the girls go home early as i have been asked to join turkay and crew,as its my last night for a drink and chat (well its not really, tomorrow night is,but i had better not be having a drink then, not with the flight etc.
during our chat i was once again offered a job at the hotel, this is the 2nd time ive been asked, and although its very tempting,my family comes first,so once again i decline his offer, wobbled off home around 3.30, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
to be continued...
going home day,up early, had breakfast, spent all day at the pool again, having as much fun with the staff as possible,we could do this as normally we would have to vacate the room by noon, but it was arranged that we could keep it untill midnight, yet again no cost incurred.
went for the evening meal early, then back to the room to pack, whilst the girls took off to watch the show and take as many photos of the animation team as possible.
once the packing was done we had time for a couple of hours kip.
its now 11pm we phone the girls and tell them to come back to the room to help get the luggage up to reception, once the cases were stowed away in the luggage room we began our walk around the complex saying our goodbyes to all the staff that has made this holiday really special, we ended up at the club, but there was no animation team, we then learned that they were rehearsing at the amphitheatre. we took a stroll over to say farewell. as we entered the building music was playing, half the team were in the middle of a dance routine, the other half watching, then oktay, the chief animator, noticed us and brought everything to a halt, one by one they hugged us all, i don't mind admitting i had a lump in my throat and the poor girls were crying their eyes out. as we left the theatre i turned to take one last look at this crowd of wonderful people, and what i saw were 20 people all with hands in the air clapping us, amazing people.
the walk up to reception seemed to take an eternity, myself and jayne in silence, the poor girls still crying and heartbroken, apparently they have had their first crush and taste of heartbreak, or so i was reliably informed by jayne, see being a bloke i didn't really notice it.
as the zigana car pulls up i think to myself will we ever return to this place we call home, even if it is for just two weeks of the year.
THE END ..........
this has been an unbelievable holiday that i feel could not be bettered anywhere in the world let alone turkey, and to make our decision even harder, our price for next year will be a paltry 1,400, that's for 2 weeks, 2 adults and 2 teenagers in a 2 bedroom apartment with transfers, this is obviously a special price for us, it would be considerably dearer for anyone else wanting to book.
i so want to see other parts of turkey, but when you get the service that we have had what do you do? at the moment i just don't know.
i would like to point out that this has been my story, and it's the way that i wanted to spend my holiday, no way does this reflect on club zigana it's not a place full of drunks and partying 24-7 even though i may have portrayed it as such.
when we first stayed here, we were just another tourist, so we saw then what you would see now, if you were to visit.
it's a fantastic 5 star hotel, with manicured gardens, set on it's own private beach, there is a huge swimming pool with 3 big slides for kids and grown ups alike, a brilliant wave pool (my favourite), there is also an indoor pool, a wellness centre, turkish and thai massages, beach bar, pool bar, turkish cafe, reception bar and of course the nightclub. the food served up is of a high standard, always hot and plenty of it (i didn't get spoilt until my 3rd year remember). the animation team are fantastic, if you want peace and quiet and are not into joining in that much, no problem they will not pester you, but on the other hand if you are into fun and games and want to make the most of your stay, i would strongly recommend that you get to know these guys, they work tirelessly from 8 in the morning til 1 in the morning (yes that's 17 hours on anyone's clock). outside the hotel you will find a few shops and a market, but if you want more, hop on the dolmus to kemer it's only 20 minutes away or try antalya 30-40 minutes. at the moment the hotel is mostly russian tourists but the english intake is definitely on the up compared to our first year. i can honestly say in my own opinion this is a place that is well worth trying. i received no payment for this either lol.
i hope you have enjoyed reading my post as much as i had writing it.
happy hols all, whereever they may be.
Cheers,
Bibbs
Very entertaining, Tony. Almost sounds as though you enjoyed yourselves. I really enjoyed reading about the trip. Much the best report I've seen on this site for ages. You forgot to mention the mountain climbing and bungee jumping.
Bibbs your last post made me cry too!!! I just remember saying goodbye to all our friends (although some say we are stupid and we have been hassled but it's people we have known for years and keep in contact with via text and e mail). Glad you had a fantastic time and you were so well taken care of. Pleased too Jayne and girls still with you
Looks a really nice hotel, had a look at it on google.
Excellent report, your holiday place sounds lovely and is obviously very special to you and your family.
Bibbs i have sooo enjoyed reading your day to day reports. Genuine hospitality is hard to find these days but it seems you found it. BRILLIANT
Great report Bibbs , seems like you really enjoyed yourself, thats the way holidays should be ,felt your pain myself when you spoke about leaving .Turkey and the turkish people gets to you lke that ,every time i have to leave i feel the exact same .We are off this morning and are looking forward to seeing all our old friends.Take care .
i must admit i enjoyed doing that report,i might try the mountain climbing and bungee jumping next year (not).
thanks al321,
yes we were taken very good care of,and i too am very happy that jayne and the girls are still with me lol.
sorry to have made you cry.
hi barbh,
it really is a lovely hotel, the tour operator is cosmos, but if anyone is thinking of booking a holiday here,i would recommend going direct with the hotel, you may well get it much cheaper.
thanks loulou,
it is a very special place,so many great memories.
hi doodles,
so glad you enjoyed it,and you are right genuine hospitality is very hard to find.
hi bluepeterno1,
thank you,i have only just arrived home from a weekend away, sorry to have missed you leaving.
hope you have a fantastic holiday, look forward to hearing about it on your return, take care, best wishes.
will try to put some photos on soon for anyone thats interested.
anyone interested in looking at the photos to go with this posting, can see them in the upload section in the gallery.
Great pictures Bibbs the place looks lovely
I like the look of this hotel. Can you clarify your '2 bed apartment' please. Is this what Cosmos offer as a 'family room'? If not, do you know what this consists of?
sorry i dont know how or what cosmos offer in the way of rooms,we only went through them in 2005 (never again)but when we went with them there was 2 adults and 2 children,we were put in one room that had a double a single and a bed settee, not a lot of room as you can imagine.
if your thinking of going, get a price from them for a 2 bedroom apartment, then go direct to the hotel, you might get a few quid off.
the apartment we had this year was great, huge main bedroom with that big bed,and bedroom 2 was a great size.
if we could get the time off work and raise the extra cash would love to take 2 holidays, and we would do just what you suggested.
but ive been doing a lot of thinking since coming home, although im never going to find another place that gives me so much for so little, turkey is such a big place and i really do want to see more of it,im thinking icmeler, the kids were not very happy about it when they were told today, but in reply to them was, when your paying you get to choose lol
