Got back this morning after two weeks in Trianda Wife and 2 boys age 3 and 6. Stayed at Sun Beach 1 Hotel on a self catering basis. Best Family holiday we have had to date. Resort and Island fantastic and would recommend to anyone with a family of young children everybody there can't do enough for you, the hotel was very clean and the facilities were excellent including the animation team.
Now looking forward to my next break away which will hopefully be in August
If anyone would like any info on Trianda or Sun Beach Hotel please let me know and i will try and help out.
Yamas

Hia Steve, nice to hear you had a good one.I,m off to the Sunbeach next month, cant wait.Stayed in Trianda last year all inclusive at the Electra Palace, nice place but way too expensive this year so we thought we,d try the self catering option.Any tips on where to eat and drink, what sort of prices are we talking for a family of 3 to eat out and have a few beers?.Any help much appreciated, wife is nagging me as it was my idea to go self catering, she wanted to pay the 2 and a half grand to go all inc again. Also is the hotel shop any good for bread, eggs etc???
If you are self catering you are likely to be staying in Sun Beach 1 which we reckon is the better of the two complexes, the rooms are much bigger and have hob, kettle, microwave, toaster and fridge. In the day i would pop over to the supermarket and buy a couple of fresh cobs 15p each and a tomatoe 10p (we packed our own cheese). You can buy Kingsmill bread at £2 and eggs at £1 for 6. Milk and butter cost £1, but take your own coffee or tea as this was more expensive.
Trianda has loads of places to eat which cater for all budgets, most menus are the same. Would recommend Olde Knights (Scottish Greek run) near to an area with childrens park near the beach, located on main road into Trianda - the food here was consistently good, try the Saganaki as a starter (Battered Fried Cheese) £3 - get there early though or you'll have a bit of a wait. Most nights we would have some form of starter - meat balls or salad £3 - £4, followed by a main meal £6 - £9, the kids would have chicken nuggets which were actually chicken breast - the bill with drinks would come to around £20 - £30. Snack type foods like burgers or club sandwich cost around £3-£4, Pizza £4, fries £1.25 etc.. Kavaleros is best for drinking - walk out of Sunbeach and follow the road round to a square. A large Methos cost £1.30 - food here is also good and cheap we always had a complementary Ouzo.
We found Sunbeach expensive for drinking £2.50 for a large beer and similar for fanta/sprite, this was the only let down. We took our own cerials and as mentioned cheese, coffee and tea bags, the cheese lasted a week, we ate out the rest of the days and spent a total of £1000. If you like barbeques then goto the Sunbeach one - they had a massive selection of meats Chicken, Steak and Pork fillets jacket spud chips and huge salads (buffet style). We also went on the Greek Night organised by the hotel which was just as good as the barbeque and better/cheaper than the Thomson excursion.
If you need any more help let me know.
Thanks
Steve
1---Can you take your own drinks to the pool in the daytime.
2---Did you notice how much car hire was.If i,m correct theres a car hire plcae opposite the Sunbeach complex.
3---Is there a good daytime activity programme.
4--What was the exchange rate out there, its been around 1.40 overhere for a while.
Once again thank you.
Here you go...
1---Yes, we did and so did plenty of others, Methos was around 70p a can from over the road, Coke/Fanta etc.. the same.
2---There is one over the road and if i remember correctly was £65 for 3 days, not sure on car but i'm sure you could probably get it cheaper.
3---Yes cheap and cheerfull but a laugh, Darts or Mini Golf in the morning and Water Polo and Beach Volleyball in the afternoon
4---We took cash (pound) and got a rate of 1.44, this was the best we saw.
If you go around Sunbeach 1 pool remember me to Liz and Nikki, tell them Steve and Tim asked.
Cheers
Steve
Cheers Steve, off on July 18th so will pass on your regards to Nikky and Liz,are they entertainers or barstaff???.Euro rate is 4 cents higher than overhere so will be worth changing overthere,1000 quid works out as an extra 40 Euro,s so well worth it.
Dont time fly, just 3 days to go,cant wait.Anyone else reading in off to Trianda this week???????????/
