Jewellery is cheaper here in Egypt, especially silver. My favourite items are alabaster pots, candle holders, vases etc as every one has it's own unique pattern. Place each one under a lamp and you will see the different shades and hues appear.
One of the first things I ever bought home from Egypt, quite a few years ago now, was an alabaster vase. I bought it for around £3 English at a shop near The Valley Of The Kings in Luxor. I put a low wattage (about 20w I think) candle bub in it and displayed it on a high shelf. It was stunning!
Although we find Luxor, Aswan and even Cairo are great for gold and silver, especially if you look around a bit, I think the prices in Sharm are very inflated and not a particularly good deal.
