Hello all, I have been looking at some sites for Pousadas in central Portugal, these are old houses and castles made in to hotels by the government. What I would like to know has anybody ever used one and what are they like? if you would like to see what I mean you can see them on this site.

Thanks for the reply luis, but can you give me a bit more detail on these pousadas.
Hi Dave sure what details are you looking for? I can tell you that plenty of the pousadas are supported by the governement and they are in old historic buildings that been refurbished, they are located all over the country and some of them have stunning views.Just tell me what details you want and i will try to help:-)
The Pousadas are run by the Pestana Group.
Last of all would you say that for a short break starting at say Sesimbra and finishing at Obidos this could be done with time to look round the local area and not all traverling.
Dave
Hi Dave. They are good quality but not luxurious like a 5-star complex altough you would be suprised of what they can offer,i had meals there and was happy with them,it all depends of what you like, you can always contact them to see what kind of food they serve etc.yes a small bear starting at Sesimbra and ending in Obidos(Great place) would be ok they not big places so you could see the area in a mini-break.Enjoy:-)
