We are planning a fly-drive from Preveza airport later this year and the last stage we intend to drive from the Zagoria area (near Ioannina) to Lefkas. The online map directions (ViaMichelin) insist on sending me the long way, round the coast but if my memory serves me correctly, there is a tunnel that we could use to shorten the route. Has anyone used the tunnel and if so, where does it actually go - is it from the centre of Preveza? What directions should we follow for this route?

hi we went to parga a couple of years ago the tunnel is definatly open now if you click on google maps you can see where it go`s looks like the outskirts of preveza but well linked by road. kev

The tunnel is only a couple of minutes from the airport and is well sign posted, basically you want to go left as you leave the airport.

Thanks - we will actually be aproaching from the other (Preveza) side - when we arrive we are heading south. Our tour is basicaly a week touring Delphi, Meteora and Zagoria, then Lefkas to relax for a week. Heading from Zagoria we will head towards Preveza - do we head to the centre of Preveza or is it just signposted for the airport? Is it a toll tunnel?

I presume you will be traveling down on the E55 ?
If so stay on it all the way & follow signs for Preveza (Aktion), then follow signs for the airport / underwater tunnel.
It is well sign posted and skirts to the side of Preveza.
If you happen to be coming down the E951 you will have to leave it on to highway 21 and come down through Preveza or follow it all the way until it joins the E55 and then follow that to the airport
The tunnel is a toll tunnel.
