I've posted on here a few times that one of our favourite restaurants is Noufaro. You can get a 3 course meal from the set menu and a kids meal, drinks and a free bottle of wine for around £20.Another of my favourites is Cordon Blue at the top of the hill heading out of Pernera towards the Golden Coast.Favourite in Protaras is Andama.
It was possible to eat more cheaply ie pub grub but hell I only get one holiday a year and I want to enjoy it .
We also found that the Cypriot people were so nice and would go out of their way to make sure you had a nice time.
Only bad meal we had was at a place on the main street called the prince (ypounger son chose it as it had pictures of mouthwatering looking cakes/desserts outside) and it was rotten , avoid it as there are loads of good places to eat.
I loved Protaras and would happily return
Would you recommend any of those restaurants for a wedding reception?
Flying out in just under 6 weeks, but haven't booked a reception yet?
gail.....................
Recommending a nice restaurant to someone to visit during thier holidays for me is ok but a wedding reception is a different kettle of fish.If you don't like somewhere one night you try somewhere else but for your wedding you only get one shot.If you are staying in Pernera then Nufarou(never sure of the spelling) is as good as anywhere. We like it because the people are friendly but are never in your face,if you know what I mean. Also because the food is good and reasonable.BUT,there are so many other restaurants too choose from.
Hi, we are looking to go to Protaras for 14 nights next May, self catering. However, the only thing holding me back from booking is how much will it cost to feed us all over there? We're not into the exp restaurants, more your something with chips kind of people! Would it be worth paying the suppliment to go half board at our apartments? Last time we went to Cyprus was back in '89 and we were only 2 adults so eating out was cheaper. Any advice please! Thank you.
Most places serve children meals at half price. With a good program you will spend less than 30 pounds a day
What is the average price in Limassol for a pint of local beer and any bars to avoid with extortionate prices .
Thanks
Nautilius inn (pernera) a local beer was 1.50 £Cy and a small blackthorn cider was 1.30 (and Nescafe coffee was 1.10)
In the Papantonia hotel (pernera) main bar local beer was 1.70
sorry didn't drink any Gin....
Im due to go back to Protaras again next year, and was wondering how much, on average, it is for a pint of lager. Last year in our "local" bar, we were paying 90cent for a pint of Carlsberg lager. Cant remember the name, but it was opposite the Andreotis apts, over the main road. We have just had some friends come back from Protaras, who informed us they were been charged £2.50a pint!! If this is correct, i cant believe how much it has gone up! On average, last year, we were paying £!.60-£1.90a pint. I may be sticking to wine! Any info about prices for drinks will be appreciated.
When I go on holiday I eat and drink at what ever establishment I enjoy regardless of the price. I spend too much time penny pinching at home to do it on holiday. But then if your going to be buying vast quantities in order to get drunk, I guess price matters.
A pint of Keo in the Fools and Horses pub cost us 1.50cyp whilst a pint in the Capo Bay hotel cost us 2.40cyp.Most of the bars on the strip do cocktails for 1.50cyp and local spirits + mixer for 1.50cyp.
Wine in restaurants cost about 6.50cyp,last year the same wine cost us 5.75cyp.
They havent gone up that much then. There are 6adults going next year, so just wanted to know what our budget should be. As the previous reply said, you save up hard all year and want to eat and drink wherever you want, price doesnt matter. Doesnt mean i will get drunk every nite though!!! Just wanted to know roughly
1 I'm a skin flint
2 I don't travel 2000miles to drink the beer/lager that I can get from the off license near my house (same goes for food).
3 You always seem to be treated with a little more respect if you are willing to try the local cuisine and drinks.
4 When I return home, if I'm lucky I might be able to get hold of the same beer from somewhere and it brings back memories of the holiday (helped even more by cooking the same food that we had there)..
not in any particular order.
if I'm lucky I might be able to get hold of the same beer from somewhere
You mean like here Cy?
Beers of Europe
Ady
no not there but now I'm drooling...
(we can get "SuperBock" that we had in Portugal from ASDA !, San Miguel that we had in Menorca is everywhere.... can't think what we drank in Turkey ?.... etc)
Keo I haven't spotted yet, but I've not gone an out an out search...
Jim look to pay arround £1.50 a pint in pubs, less of course where the locals drink, I go there...
It would be so nice to wake up in the morning and know that the sun was shinning.
what seem to be the most popular drinks in cyprus or does it vary in which part ur in?
