Not until May, but havent been for possibly 4/5 years so really looking forward to it.

We had such a great stay at what was the Amalthia Beach we wanted to come back the following year, but didnt!!!

The children are a bit older now 11 & 8 so can behave on the flight (hopefully!!!)

We cannot visit during the summer hols as hubby and oldest son are red haired and its much too hot for them, when we came before it was June and that was too much!!!!

Eldest finishes his sats, then is off for a school visit for a week to the isle of wight then we can chill for 2 weeks in Cyprus!!!!

IF!!! you can't fail to find decent food in Cyprus, it's the best in the Med!!!

have a great holiday.. do find where the locals eat this is the way to go but as Pafos has 691 restaurants cafe's etc you will be spoilt for choice, look to pay £7 for a three course tourist menu and the same but far more food for a Meze or local food (recommended)

the shot is a picture of only a small starter of a Meze that includes much meat and vegtables, we always have one of these when we go out here...

We are off to Cyprus in June, going self catering. We have never been before and would like to know how much everyday things are. Bread,Milk,Butter etc.

Also what are the prices like for eating out? And drinks etc. For 2 adults & 2 kids.

We are staying in Protaras and also can anybody recommend some good places to go, eat & drink

Cheers

Hi Whingebag ! We stayed in Protaras last year. Although we were half board we found prices to be roughly the same as you'd expect to pay in this country. Prices for eating out will depend on what sort of place you choose as they range from cheap(ish) to very expensive. You will find a good selection of British produce in the supermarkets along with some beautiful cypriot delicacies for you to try.

Thanks Helen, gives us an idea of how much money to take.

Hi Whingebag, if you are hiring a car, I advise you to go to Paralimni for your self catering shopping. Kokinnos or Orphanides are normally about 40% cheaper than the shops in Protaras. There is a good bus service into Paralimni as well. Regarding good places to eat out, there are numerous in Protaras. Woodys is good for quality snacks and lunches, Le Pas Pub is also good for snacks. Loads of quality restaurants at night though. Cheers Dave.

For good value meals try Anatolia Restaurant on the top road heading from Protaras to Pernera. It has a range of set menus from around £7-8 upwards for 3 courses.

For £6 you can have all you can eat of Indian, Chinese, Thai and Japanese food. Place called "Dragon", go to McDonalds end of Bar St, turn right at "Sfinx" and its about 300 yards up that way (just after Return of the King Pub - the one with the inflatable man waving his arms).

Still some good bargains om food and drink to be found if you look for them

Lots of resteraunts in Protaras offer a choice of set menus with delicious food choices, around 7 cypriot pounds for 3 courses. A great cheap meal are the pizzas in the Italian facing Flora bar. You won't need starters as they are massive and around £4 each. Also tray the meze, the only meal you'll need all week!!! For this I would recommend Nicholas Tavern at the very bottom of the strip of Yianna Marie, down the hill from Waves at the opposite end of the strip. Me and my borfriend just got back and we ate very well every day!! We spent £700 (English money) in a week

I stayed in Ayia Napa lest year. I absolutely adored Cyprus. The only thing was we found it quite expensive, but maybe this had something to do with the fact we have euro. AYia Napa was about the same as in Dublin (which is expensive anyway) Eating out was the same price. Imported drinks were incredibly expensive eg Smirnoff ice was €9. But local stuff was not so expensive. Even in shops you could not get any really cheap alchohol and groceries were dear eg. small jar of Maxwell house €4 Maybe its just Ayia Napa thats this expensive. We did not expect it to be. Its just that when you are Irish everywhere else is normally so cheap :) . Though despite the cost I would go there again
