Thanks for that. We like to go self catering, so we like to be near plenty of bars and restaurants, Tropical Dreams Apartments looks promising quite good reviews. Any other suggestions?
I have just got back from Tropical Dreams Apts about 3 weeks ago ! there lovely apartments they have many bars & resturants around and its right on the top of the strip but away from all the noise! hope this hepled a bit !
Thanks again for your help

Yeah there are tv's there! its a £10 deposite for the control which you get back at the end , just to let you know , when you go to the travel agents saying somewhere on Fig tree bay , they may of told you Tropical Dreams which is on the same beach as fig tree bay but the beach down from Tropical is Flamingo , Just the same beaches different names i thaught i would let you know that just incase you specificley wanted Fig Tree Bay! This happend to my friend last year not saying it will happen this time to you just telling you about it
No thats ok we don't need to be right on Fig Tee beach, we just wanted to be near it, as it seems like there are more bars ect. there, as lonf as its walking distance.
Yeah theres waves pub which is on the top of the road and then Tropical dreams and then all the night life starts from waves and so on , you only have to walk out of the hotel really and theres the shops / bars & pubs but you are away from all the loud noises at 1 oclock in the morning staying here
If you are going in May make it the last two weeks. I have been 3 years at the beginning of May and weather was very unseasonal every time - lots of sporadic rain and cloud. Trying again from the 14th May next year in the hope we have uninterrupted sun for once. Tourist season will be under way so it won't be too quiet. Best months to go are September/early October - still lovely weather but without the unbearable heat of late June/July and August.
We were in Protaras or Prenera (spelt wrong sorry!) arriving May 3rd and the resorts were both bustling. Our first 2 days we had glorious weather then for the next 5 days it teemed down and 1 day we even had hailstones the size of marbles, the locals couldn't get over it. Although we had bad weather it was a lovely place, lots to do, some great bars and restaurants, my only gripe apart from the weather was the mozzies, I've travelled extensively and the worst ever!! Take your sprays in abundance.
The water in May is normally superb. And many beaches in Protaras are excellent. It is a busy tourist month, but there should be no congestion. For me it would be one of the nicest months for a beach break on the island, the other period probably being late September.
Take care

I went from 14 - 21 May this year (08) and it got hotter and hotter as the week went on - no rain to be seen (but apparently it had rained a bit the week before). It was quite breezy some days which was a pleasant relief.
I did get eaten alive my mossies though - not sure if that is usual for May or a whole summer thing!!!
The sea was a little cold though being early season - but still swimmable!! x
We've just got back this morning from having two week of non stop sunshine......except the flight was delayed because of fog!!!!!!
Didn't anyone find Protaras/Ayia Napa/Pernera dead the last two weeks of May. Compared to last year it was a case of "spot the tourist if you can". I have never seen the area so quiet. It suits me fine like that but tourism has certainly taken a big knock this year.
There were a few nights we were out up the strip after midnight and the road was empty, not a soul to be seen. I did comment to hubby, wondering if this was the norm for May but towards the latter part of the second week ( half term) it got really busy.
We arrived to our hotel just after midnight and normally when we arrive anywhere at that time we go for a stroll and have a drink just to get into the spirit of being on holiday. Everywere was closed so we went straight to bed!
