Is this worth a visit or should we just head over to Ayia Napa and water world? We've got two kids aged 12 and 8 with the 12 year old being a bit of a dare devil
Thanks
Trish
Water world near Ayia Napa is set in beautiful surroundings and has a lot to offer your children at that age, they will not want to leave.
Taxis will give you a voucher for a couple of quid off if paying at the gate, my advice is go to the local Thisvi shops dotted around protaras, Pernera and Napa, they give you the actual voucher to go straight in with, so your in the shorter line to get in. it is cheaper than the gate price and reps prices at the welcome meeting.
Please do not take any food in, they do random bag searches, including back packs.
If going on the bus it costs 70c pp, we always get a cab back, remembering to barter first If you go in a cab both ways, the cab wont charge you until the return journey.
I hope that helps.
Michelle.
trish we never went to this waterpark because a lot of people on this forum said it was rubbish and unsafe. so we hired a car and drove to aiya napa and what a day we had it was great i would recommend you take pack lunch with you as the food was pricey and not up to much. once you enter the park you can get a locker for about 3cp and put all your stuff in we put our bottled water in here and it kept cool as the lockers are shaded and we just went back when ever we needed anything. take plenty of suncream (high factor) as there isnt much shade and take flip flops as the ground gets absolutely red hot when dry and slippy when wet. we stayed still about 4pm from when it opened and we would definately go again.
I would like to add you can only eat in the car park. Food is not allowed in the park, there are security at the gates and they check your bags. Dont forget to have your hand stamped when going out of the park. If they catch you and you havent a car, then you will have to eat it before they let you in again.
We always visit Waterworld and to be honest the price of the food is not too bad, here is the link to their website.
Thanks guys. Sounds like the water park in Ayia Napa is the one for us then. We will be hiring a car while we are there so will probably make our own way there and back. Looks great on the web-site.
I found it reasonable to eat as well, eat a good breakfast before you go for fuel supply. Prepare yourself with sun tan lotion as it gets really hot
How busy is it during may? We will be going here next year, last two weeks in May ( the last being the school half term break).
I've been to lots of water parks but this was the best by far. The park is beautifully designed around Greek myths and legends. The rides are awesome and the lifeguards were vigilant but very polite and helpful.
Unlike most other water parks they don't charge extra for sunbeds.
Just noticed the thread is headed Protaras water park. I went to Water world at Ayia Napa
sorry i didnt realise you couldnt take food in with you we didnt get our bag searched is this a new thing? it was only last june that we were there!!
We're not going until the 11th July so the holiday season will be in full swing.....so I am guessing it wil be fairly busy? we usually go on change over days ie wednesday hoping that the parks will be slightly quieter.
Thanks Martha one, that's the one we are going too and it should be bliss in May too, i don't really go on the slides etc but hubby and the bairn love them. Really glad they don't charge extra for sunbeds.
They do not search everyone, it would cause an up raw, but if anyone is carrying in large type bag, ruck sack, or ice cooler, then you would get stopped.
We were stopped by security , presumably because I was carrying a large bag. We didn't have any food with us, just bottled water and there was no objection to that. There is a reasonable choice of cafe food there, it's not worth bothering to take a picnic anyway.
we were only asked if we had food or drinks and we said just bottled water they didnt check our bags. we had a packed lunch each as we were all inclusive and refused to pay for what we didnt have to
Hello All, Am going to Protaras and staying at the Artemis I have stayed here before and when I was there I noticed a small waterpark visible from the back of our apts. We actually went to the large waterpark in Aiya Napa and did not bother checking this one out, was just wondering if anyone has been to the one in Protaras and how they rated it and how much it costs for adults and children? Thanks Happy Hols Sharon
(ps its in Pernera behind the Paschalia hotel at the opposite end of the top road from the Elamaris)
Steve
Thanks Steve, Will probably have a look, will still go to aiya napa but looking for more local stuff to do aswell have always hired a car in the past but looking to explore a bit more on foot. Cheers Sharon
i think if i remember rightly i paid £57 for 2 adults 2 children in 2005 , prices may have changed now though
