The QE2 will be celebrating her 40th birthday next year !

she is completing a special cruise which will lap the UK, it leaves Southampton on the 15th of September 2007 and arrives in Newcastle on the 16th for an overnight stay (maiden call).Then on the 18th she is in Edinburgh,the next day is spent at sea. On the 20th she arrives in Glasgow on the day she was named by the Queen in 1967 (there are rumours she may attend) and also a big party is anticipated. The final port of call Liverpool which has important links with Cunard. Then after another day at sea its back to Southampton.

She will receive a special welcome in every port to include bands,fireworks and fortillas of small boats escorting her in and out. Also on board there will be special partys and guest speakers.

It has been said that this is an unexciting itinerary, but i disagree and also just being part of this historic event will be amazing, i think this is backed up by the fact it has nearly sold out already.There are only a few inside double staterooms avaliable. So if you want to secure a place in this historic event you need to huury !

I am looking foward to it very much and was lucky enough to secure a single room,which sold out very quickly.

Hi there, What is the tipping policy on the QE2. I know on somwe ships it can add quite a lot to the price with 'compulsary' tipping

It depends which Grade you are in ! If you are in M or C grade it is £6 per person per day or if you are in P or Q it is £7 per person per day !

You can go to the pursers office and ask them to remove the tips then you can give what you wish to and to who you wish to.

They add the Tips to your onboard account i think its listed as " Hotel Charge " so i assume its not included in the fare and i have never known it to be included since ive been cruising with Cunard !

With restrictions on baggage on flights to Southampton , has anyone hired formal wear on board QE 2 , or would it be cheaper to pay for excess luggage - or is it acceptable to wear dark lounge suit.

I have never hired a suit onboard, but i think a dark lounge suit would be acceptable

The QE2 is being sold. i always had a dream that i would one day sail on her and now it won't come true. she is to be moored off the new islands being built near Dubai and used as a hotel.
Oh well that'll do. still need to win the lottery though.

I have never ventured on the QE2 mainly because she was getting older and I did cruise with Cunard on Caronia. Again older ship so didn't have some of the amenities that are on the newer ships. I did enjoy the standard of service and the food etc.

Just back from Ireland tonight from my 2P flight had a great time.!

I am sailing on the QM2 on the 12-24th July and my documents are here tonight on my return. I am looking forward to it and making a comparison with Celebrity which has been my cruise company of choice over the past 3 - 4 years.

Got a great deal on the QM so it is always worth trying something new especially if the price is right.

I have just returned from the QE2 today and received the news onboard, there were a lot of upset people.

IMHO ,the QE2 is the best ship in the world and can never be replaced.
