They were doing this on the flight to Antalya at the end of May, so it is not all that new! I believe it is because of swine flu, so they can trace you if you turn out to have been sitting near someone who has it, as it asks your seat no.

Can someone give me more details about the form?

What questions does it ask - have heard it asks you about temperature?? :que

What it a higher-than-average temperature?

Heading out to Antalya in 4 days!

Hi CloClo, it's really nothing to worry about. It just asks if you have been in contact with Swine flue and things like that. We had to fill them in when we flew to Dalaman in May. We filled most of it but our passports were in the overhead locker, as my wife is disabled and gets taken off in a wheelchair we just finished it off whie everyone else was getting off lol. I can't remember what all the questions were but there was nothing bad at all.

Agree with Willy, nothing to worry about at all. You don't need to know your temperature. If I remember rightly it just asks whether you feel unwell. Good idea to have your passport to hand and not in the overhead locker, and you need to know the name of your accommodation. It really is no hassle at all. Don't think they have many cases of swine flu yet in Turkey and they obviously want to keep it that way!

we had 1 of these to fill in when we landed in istanbul in may, just general questions including your passport no, address etc and have you bee ill recently etc, we were told there might be a slight possibility of men in white coats and masks could board the plane and not to be alarmed but they didnt

And what exactly do they do if you have a raised temperature when you get to the airport? It could be for any number of reasons not just swine flu.

Just got back yesterday, flew into Dalaman on the 28th June.

The form roughly justs asks Name, Passport No., Seat No., where you are stopping and have you been unwell.

They have an heat sensing camera after you get your visa and before passport control, this doesn't hinder you in anyway.

Maybe of interest, we took drinks etc. through to departures last night but posters in Dalaman Airport say the liquid restriction starts on 1st Aug 09 same restrictions has UK airports.

I have been told you are taken for tests and treatment.

They are checking for core body temperature and not skin temperature, so even with ambient air temperature being high the cameras can detect the difference.

Heat sensing camera AFTER you get your visa,so are they going to refund your visa cost if you fail he test??? Shouldnt the camera be BEFORE you get to the visa desk?????.

You'll need a visa whatever happens because you're going to have to come into the country, they'll hardly turn you round and put you back on the plane!

Sorry Alfie,I have to disagree whats the point of having the Heat Sensing camera if they are going to let you in the country. They will turn you around if they feel you could be suffering with the Swine Flu,and to turn you around you dont have to enter into the country.

I think what Dave said is true - they take you for tests. I did read about a case a few weeks ago in the paper where they did just that, so yes you do need to come into the country. The reason why they scan you as you arrive is so that they can quarantine you immediately, lessening the risk of you infecting people working at the airport.

Some people kids especially have high temps for different reasons, so basically if you have a high temp off you go for some tests etc fabulous something else for us all to be worrying about!

They must have had cases of people coming through with a higher than average temp, i wonder how long it takes for these tests etc to be done.

I have no objection to them wanting to limit the amount of cases of swine flu they have but this sounds like a nightmare start to a holiday.

No Vicky it's your bodys core temp which is different to the temp of your skin

There is really nothing to worry about. The form is simple and you tick a few boxs and write your passport number etc. The form stated that England was the infected country and only people from infected countires had to fill the for out, so we pointed out with a smile and a flutter of eyelashes that Glasgow wasn't in England to the young Turkish health officials. They had a laugh with us about it and said how they just want an excuse to chat to scottish girls :rofl ( we had of course filled out the from on the plane.) So point of my story is they don't think we all have the plague or anything so don't let it bother your holiday.

I got my form at check in but I heard some other flights you get it on the plane. We met a couple from manchester who were delayed over an hour because Thomas cook didn't have enough forms on the plane.

Has anybody been stopped because they have been stopped because of this heat sensing camera and if so what exactly happens ?

I flew out on 29th June and didn't notice a heat sensing camera. Some passengers were given forms on the plane, but they ran out and people were then given them on leaving when they had replenished stocks on arrival. I didnt complete all the info such as phone number. They were not being strict about people handing them in - there was a desk and there were 2 people retrieving the forms but if someone went past without handing in a form they were not bothered.

Seriously, nothing at all to worry about and not being carried out with any degree of uniformity.
