Hey Taz, that's partially good news i suppose. Let's hope that is true, in fact.....i might do a wee bit of digging on that and get back to you (I hopefully have a contact!) Only thing that would worry me, though, is if Redcrest were struggling to make things work, would it work any better for Reays? Like i said, mind you, i felt that Redcrest were maybe trying a wee bit too much.....just keep it simple, good journey, good accom, and good reps, and that is all i need! Emma, wee blonde lass who worked in the Miami, yeah? Nice rep, although most of them were.....hope they can all get new jobs soon, maybe with a 'new' company
Im sure Mandy will be delighted to hear that, Taz, she does read these forums! I'm sure she will writing another commission cheque to me as we speak
Thank you for being concerned about me, but all was well! Thankfully I wasn't really affected by it all at all. Our accommodation at Castell Mar, although rented by Redcrest must have been paid up front as we were okay to stay there. And the coaches from Reays turned up fine, funded by ABTA of course!
I am so sad to see that Redcrest have gone under and for all those people who have been left in the lurch here
A couple of little things about our holiday anyway. Cidermonster, yes we did have Mandy and Stevie both ways on our journey and you're right they are fabulous! A big wave and a thankyou to both of them, especially Mandy, for looking after us and keeping my little monster in a supply of cheese toasties for the duration of the trip! I didn't need to tell them you were asking for them as Mandy had been reading and knew who I was too before I got on the coach! she's good! Told me all about your outing!
So for some inside information, from what I've been told Redcrest had no idea they were going under, they owed Reays a lot of money and without Reay's taking them to bankruptcy for it, Reays would have gone under too. So the owner of Reays bankrupted them to protect his own business, fair enough! But from what I've been told, from yesterday, Reays have now either bought over what was left of Redcrest, or have bought out the accommodation they had at Castell Montgri and will be running their own holidays to their be it this season at next, so you won't have to resort to Club C Cidermonster!
Take care everyone! Back at work this morning and completely knackered but better go and do the pile of work I have!

It is sad news about the company going under, hope everyone from staff to customers are sorted out. I had been to castell in early July when Redcrest were showing their new range of mobile homes, very nice, very impressive, in fact I intended to book with them for next year. Will be interested in finding out more about their successor, is it Reay, will look forward to hearing from someone, Ciderman might you be able to provide some information.
Mandy & Stevie from Reay's both read this forum, so they have promised to let me know what's happening. If Reay's have taken over then at least you know you'll be getting the same customer service that you had as a Redcrest passenger, since it was them doing the journey's anyway.
cidermonster somehow i have never read any info regarding mandy and stevie before the holiday or i would have had a chat with her to find the insider info LOL. if mandy is reading this post i just want to say hi, i was the one with 5 lads, the youngwest of which was that sad he wasn't going on your coach he made me come over so he could cuddle you.
Funny thing.....when i first heard that Redcrest went bankrupt, i did wonder why......and then it was mentioned that an investor pulled out, or something like that.....and i have to admit, that it crossed my mind that Redcrest didnt own their coaches and I had my suspicions that it might have been caused by the coach firm pulling out over money, but obviously nothing has really been confirmed. However, from what you say, it looks like that might have been the case.
glad you enjoyed your hol, and the journey! Had an email from Stevie, told me that they took you there and back home - said you were a right rowdy one, always causing trouble on the coach...
...just kidding Funny how they knew before you went on....my reputation proceeds me!!
Im sure members in the holiday industry will know before me, but if i find anything out about Reays taking over, then i will post it! Fingers crossed i have to say!
Ballymac, they were still installing lots of new mobiles when we were there in May, and they all looked cracking......but as i said, i just wonder whether they were taking on more than they could cope with.....they seemed to be replacing the entire fleet in such a short time
Popping in to say hi?
cider do you have a site address for jimmies celler as i have some pics to send mel
You expect me to have an email address????????
....oh ok, of course i do!
Dont wanna put in on here though, so i've pm'd it to you....although it's a couple of years old, so dont know if they are still using that one.
Was the cellar open when you were there? Used to love that place, but it's never open when we go in may

God forbid people should become friendly!
thanks for that cider, have sent the photos off so here hoping
Maybe my post last night was a bit sarky, i apologise....but my point to admin was: This thread had it's title CHANGED, it didnt originally start out as a thread about Redcrest. I just sometimes feel that we are treated like schoolkids at times, and i know others who feel the same
Cidermonster, we are sorry you feel that way but this is a large site and it takes a lot of moderating. Kath has asked you to stay in topic so that anyone who wants info on redcrest can find it easily. There is nothing stopping you creating another topic or going to the chat forum to make friends or evening pm'ing or using msn.
If what tazhull says is right, then there is hope for the Redcrest Employees as well as those of us who have used Redcrest in the past. We hope this is so. All REAYS have got to do, is to look at where Redcrest went wrong and improve on it. The Phoenix could rise from the ashes again !!!! Until something is confirmed then people from North of the Border should look at Siesta Holidays, I am almost certain they have coaches start in Scotland. For those people in the South, there is also Harry Shaw but these don't do Castell Montgri BUT DO Camp Sanguli at Salou. For those unfamiliar with this camp site, it is similar to Castell Montgri with 3 swimming pools, an Amphitheatre Style Entertainment Area with a 14 day programme. A short Bus ride away is the Port Aventura Theme Park. Another couple of Coach Firms are Ferris and Club Cantabrica(advertised at top of Forum). These I know nothing about but hopefully other HT Members can oblige to help others in their quest for a coaching holiday to Spain.
I would advise anyone in scotland to keep their money in their pocket instead of giving it to Siesta.....as once you have given them your hard earned cash, God forbid you might actually have a genuine complaint with them!! They just stop short of sticking their fingers in their ears and going 'la la la, i cant hear you'
Has anyone out there booked with redcrest holidays for next year in Estartit. As you will know they have ceased trading and I was wanting to know if anyone has taken over the company or can anyone recommend another company to book with for the same site. Cheers
Sunways coach holidays are a good firm. I've travelled with them 3 times. Unfortunetly, I don't think they go to Estartit. But, if it's a good camp site you're looking for I can highly recommend Camping La Masia in Blanes. Sunways definetly go there. Hope this is some use.
Thanks for that,I will certainly look at it.
Hello all just to fill you in.I have 2 of the reps from callela added on my msn and was speaking to one of them(big to Amy). She has told me that redcrest was taken over by costabravadirect.com.But sadly it doesnt look like they do the coach(maybe something they will think about next year). The last i spoke to her the reps where all unsure if they still had there jobs with the new mob(keeping my fingers crossed they do).And as the company went bust the reps decided to stay and look after all the holidaymakers who where already on the site with redcrest and they didnt get a penny for doing so.
