In recent weeks several airlines have announced cuts in fuel surcharges. What is the position on refunds for the difference.
I am thinking in particular for tickets that have already been purchased but flights have not yet taken place.
Thanks.
I'd be surprised if they start giving refunds. Even though there's a reduction, it's not by much so it would probably cost more to administer the refunds than the refund itself in some cases. Plus, chances are fuel prices will increase again once the economy (and demand for oil) improves. I'm in that position at the moment for flight booked for next year. I think fuel surcharges for one of the flights was £15 per person, hardly worth the hassle of trying to get part of it refunded.
Darren - You are right. I looked at the additional taxes on my flight and wrongly asumed that the bulk was fuel supplement!
