We arrived at mid day on 16th July and landed in the new airport , I was very impressed by the speed of getting through customs and also how quickly our luggage got to the carousel.
Also there is a fantastic range of shopping and eating venues , all in all I was impressed although it seemed a little strange not to land into Don Muang.
We left a suitcase at the left luggage counter for 100 baht per day, well worth it.
Taxi to Khaosan road was 450 baht, and it was probably about 30 mins - 40 mins transfer.
We stayed at the Buddy Lodge Boutique Hotel which was definitely a bargain for £28 for the 2 of us for the night including breakfast. O f course this was not a high end hotel but I really liked the room and it was fine for just 1 night.
We enjoyed the afternoon shopping for books on Khaosan then we walked over to a beauty parlour on Pra Athrit where I had my eyebrows waxed for 50 baht!
We stopped at a small bar near the river and ended up staying there for over an hour because the rain stated and it was so torrential that we had to stay in the bar for a couple of changs.
When the rain stopped we went back the hotel to shower and change then went over to the road parrallel to Khaosan and there is a lovely little restaurant called Tuptim, had a fab thai meal for just a few pounds , we then had a few drinks on Khaosan and watched the world go by, we were both so tired though that we went to bed at about 11 0 clock and slept very well.
Next morning time to leave after breakfast, so a very brief visit but still very enjoyable, Bangkok will always be a special place for me and hope to visit again soon
