Hi
I am new to this forum and was wondering if any other owners out there could help. I have just bought a property in the Algarve, in Tavira and was wondering where everyone has been advertising their properties to rent. I have had a look at a few websites but need feedback to see what response people have had from them. The ones I have been looking at are the following
http://www.holiday-rentals.com
http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk
http://www.lastminutevillaholiday.co.uk
http://www.holidaylettings.com
I am new to this and would appreciate any feedback anyone has on these websites also if there is any other website you use that is generating rentals please let me know.

Of the four, the only one we're using is Holiday Lettings and we've had a very good response from them. Try looking at http://www.laymyhat.com/. They have a lot of useful information on all sorts of things, including the best listing sites.
Good luck!
http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk
and

have 20 weeks booked for this year already.
Just sacked Holiday-Rentals. Very few inquiries and very expensive.
http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk exactly 1 week ago & have had 3 enquiries within the 1st week with 1 definate 2 week booking & also a very likely 1 week booking already for less than £100 per year.
So far so good!
I started with So far so good!
Thanks everyone for there response. I am surprised at not getting bookings from holiday rentals as I thought they were supposed to be the biggest?? Mark how would I upload pictures to the page if I were to place an advert on this site?
Thanks
Thetonman
Follow the following thread on instructions how to place pictures in the thread:

.You want Van's first option then, which is to get your own webspace to host the pics. Go to http://photobucket.com/, register and then upload the pics. You then copy over the url to your message.
Let us know when you've put your ad on the Private Rentals forum, thetonman, and I hope it produces some good results for you!
How do potential renters find your ad? By using a search engine. So use that same search engine to find the sites best placed for your area. Just type in the most commonly used phrases for your property e.g. "luxury villas lanzarote" and see who comes out in the top 3.
Thanks for that. I have done a few searches for the algarve but what about websites that advertise elsewhere like magazines, newspapers etc would they not generate business outwith the search engines and how would you know which one would be good without trying them??
I just thought I would see what websites were working well for other people, mre so people with algarve villas would be helpful.
Thanks

how would you know which one would be good without trying them??
Unfortunately you don't! Just my personal opinion but if you have adverting money to spend, I'd put it into the internet.
Thanks for all the advice. Have you used any f these websites in this post? If so what have you found? does any of them work god for you?
Thetonman
If you click the link below you will see from the availability calender that I have almost 30 weeks booked already for this year, 60% of which are from Holiday Lettings.

Peter
Agree with everything that has been said so far. You have to make your own choice.
We did'nt really want to spend an awful lot on adverts, until we found out the thing was going to go.
After doing exactly what is advised above, by searching the search engines one site that came up a lot was villa renters.
The reason why we chose this is because it is commission only.
ie: Free.
If the site does not get you bookings, you don't pay!! If they get you bookings it is 10%
It also has a good search engine:-
