Hi,
I'm trying to help my sister-in-law and 2 of her friends who are all early 30's look for a 10 day break. They want to stay somewhere that isn't full of teenagers on all day drinking sessions, or somewhere that is full of kids (2 of them are school teachers and want to get away from Children for 2 weeks!). I know most of the resorts on the Costa Brava, but have never looked at it from a women's point of view before.
They want to be away from it, yet if they want to go for a nice meal, maybe a dance or talk to some men of equal age then they can.
Personally I have told them to try Calella or Malgrat as they are only a taxi / train to somewhere different if they want to go exploring. It's a long time since I was with a single crowd in Spain and I'm not sure if these resorts appeal to the 'older' ladies. Also with it being peak summer holiday time, Malgrat will probably be full of families.
Also can anyone recommend a hotel/apartment that not many children stay in or has an adult's only type bar etc.
By the way the only reason I'm helping them to organise this trip is I had a few too many beers at a BBQ on Saturday and told them to leave it too me
They want to go in the last week in July and have found good priced flights to Gerona or Palma airports.
Thanks
Stephen.
I am going this weekend to Tossa, which is one of my favourite places. Nice, small and quiet with a real Spanish feeling. It's well worth a look as the ambience is not for the wild at heart! I'm staying at the Golden Bahia, although there are many other nice hotels in the town.
i would go along with your suggestion for malgrat -try the maripins hotel which is not normally a kiddie place - as it does not seem to appeal to the younger generation and is only a short ride to calella if they want some thing a bit livelier some nights.
s. sussanah is more family orientated.
lloret could be a good choice, preferably the fenals area, the royal star/beach both have adult only bars although there is no entertainment in these bars.
the osiris in callela -now called gran palace or something similar-has an adults only bar on the roof and is worth a thought for that reason only, as the barman there was very strict about the no kids rule making sunbathing during the day very pleasurable
Fenals is nice. I'd look at the Aquarium Hotel, generally for a more mature guest type.
