hi

we went to turunc last week and thought it was lovely, we go to akyaka a lot and its similar size ,but i prefered akyaka as its slightly more scenic and as well as the lovely beach you have a riverside with bars, restaurants too, it really depends on what sort of things you like to do, akyaka is about 20-30 mins from marmaris, have a look at this website

if i can help with anything else let me know

TURUNC was the place for me for many years until i discovered DALYAN..to me it's very similar to Turunc but on a slightly larger scale with more restaurants ,& many more shops all contained down a main street.. saying that i will return to Turunc one day..

Yes we have discovered Dalyan to, stayed in both last year and although we loved Turunc, stayed in beautifull spot right on the beach, gorgeous views, when we arrived in Dalyan loved it even more, very scenic.
Also took a trip to Akyaka which we also loved although only there for the day will definatly go back there to stay, loved the beach and surrounding area.

We visited Turunc last year whilst in Icmeler and thought it was lovely too. We like the big AI hotels though and as far as I am aware there arent any of these in Turunc. A truly pretty place and well worth a visit.

I always stay in Icmeler, but have to agree with Ellie-Meg about Akyaka.

Went there this year for the first time ever and it was beautifull, tranquill and relaxing, wish I had more time to go for a wander round it.

I love both Akyaka and Turunc but...........

To me its a place that I love to go and escape for the day of even a few hours and have a beer and relax.

I could not stay there more than a day as it is just too quiet for me but in a few years time when I grow a little older then I would probably enjoy its soooo peacefull and tranquil time

everybody likes different things, what suits 1 person doesnt suit another, i dont class myself as old , my daughters only just 8 and we all love akyaka, i love to look at the fab scenery, nice beaches, not over the top prices that main tourist resorts attract, we stayed there for 3 weeks this summer and loved it.

the question was what resort is similar to turunc, not too touristy, beautiful surroundings, small etc . akyaka fits the bill perfectly

Hi Ellie - Meg. Did you post those photos of Akyaka in the photo gallery?
I have just been looking at them, and it looks to be a lovely place.
What is the terrain like in Akyaka? I can't do with hills or steps. Which I hate, as lots of the best scenery is in the mountain areas of Turkey.

Are there many hotels there? Ones you can book on line.

I'd love to go walking along that riverside, and eat in the restaurants there. It looks so serene.

Dreaming again, :(

hi

yes marn ive posted 99% of the akyaka photos, akyaka its self is in 2 parts the bottom end of the town with the beach and riverside which you could walk along fine without any hills and you could stay down this end as thats where akyaka is at its best but if you want to go to the top end of akyaka then its a fairly steep hill about 10-15 mins, theres just a few shops, apts restaurants etc up there, saying that my mother in law managed it once in july 2 weeks from having a hip replacement operation im amazed she did it although she said it was a killer, you could always do what we do and get a taxi lol its only 4 lira lol. here are some sites for you to look at, my inlaws stayed at the kordon apts they were very good price and in a great location corner of the river to where the sea starts,so nice and flat, very clean and a good size. akyaka is in a conservation area so therefore no ugly high rise hotels, you can book direct through these sites , the first one i know jenny so thats fine, also anatolian sky do packages

  @ Ellie.

I didn't mean to say you or anyone else on here was old but came out wrong

I love both places and for the scenery at the beach then I don't think that there is any place I have ever been in Turkey that matches the peace and the view that you get when you wade out from Akyaka beach and then look back at the mountains and I will post a few for people to see after my early morning jog

Have a look at Kalkan, there is a discussion running, the last post put on there was on Oct 6th by my good self. It is similar to Turunc in that it is on the side of a mountain, the people are warm and welcoming and there are more restaurants than you could shake a stick at(252 at the last count !!). Just a short Dolmus ride away is the excellent beach at Patara. Les

Wow - loads of good ideas here, thanks!

The idea of Dalyan is really interesting - we passed it on a boat trip, but didn't really get a good look. Definitely one we will be looking into

The other places mentioned sound (and look) gorgeous as well - I wish I could take three or four holidays next year!

Definitely in love with Turkey though - I've never missed a place quite as much! Dreaming of next year...

Small friuendly place, with no hassle and beautiful scenery.....

has to be Kas! Worth the extra journey from Kalkan, gorgeous harbour, freindly people, good prices. Very family orientated... you feel like part of the town.
