Just got back from Protaras. We ate in a variety of restaurants along the "strip", the worst was "Oscars". Cold soup to start, steaks cooked wrongly, the worst coffee I have ever tasted and indifferent staff who are more concerned about getting even more and more diners in than clearing your plates.
Went to Divas which was nothing special, a terrible T bone steak and they love themselves that little too much. It markets itself as a flambe restaurant but it "was too windy" to flambe anything. Whatever.
The "Prince" restaurant was quite good. Aim to go out the back and you get a sea view. Best meal was Olympic opposite the Nicolas Tavern. Attentive staff, good food, immaculately clean and free drinks of your choice at the end.
We stayed out of town and near to a place called "Americanos". Staff here were great, nothing was too much trouble and despite the name, it does a nice range of Cypriot dishes.
I feel it is my duty to inform everyone about The Rocks Restaurant. Easily the best restaurant in Protaras. The Steak is 'to die for' and the staff really friendly, when you have finished the meal you get a complimentary shot of liquer/brandy etc. It is on the main road - if you walk up from McDonalds, passed Sphinx on the corner and turn right - passed Anatolia etc and its on the other side of the road - you may think you have walked passed as the pubs/restaurant wear thin - but bear with it - its only 5 mins passed Anatolia Restaurant but WELL WORTH IT!!
It doesn't say much, but at least they've got a website...
haheee...You're right - it dosn't say much! At least there is a picture of it. Have you been? Im 38 and its the best steak Ive had in my whole life - the Steak Diane just melts in your mouth! mmmmmmmmm......
Not yet, but I'm tempted by your recommendation.
We are staying at the Sandra Apts do you know if its anywhere near this - my hubby loves steak
Thanks
Jo
Its not that far from you, i stumbled on this restaurant many years ago, and have been going ever since, roll on 23rd September.
Thanks for that iallen
We are staying in the Alva just down the road from you from the 23rd September, we usually go to the beach most days. We like Rockafellas bar and have a drink there before we go for a meal. We have eaten in most of the Restaurants over the years, on the strip anyway. The Corner one is our favourite, as is Romeos, Le Strada, Rocks, Island Affair to name a few, but as we have not been for two years, i suppose they could have changed chefs.
we have been to cyprus a few times but never stayed in protoras so looking forward to it
you will spot us i will be with my hubby and my dad and my hubby's sister is there in pernera for 2 weeks so we will be with them and the 2 kids - you will hear us before you see us
Rockafellas sounds good - we probs going out about 7ish on a night havin a meal then going round the bars

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
i didnt see any all you can eat places mustafa but it doesnt mean there wernt any
There used to be a little place on the main strip, it had a counter on the left as you walked in, and seating on thre right that went back a fair bit, they used to do all you can eat, we used to order a takeaway pizza from there.
My wife and I got married in Protaras 8 days ago and chose Nicolas Taverna for our reception and Nicolas and his staff could not have done any more, they truly was brilliant and went above and beyond, the food was fantastic, so tasty ( try the Beef stiffado or Lamb kleftico )
We booked for 15 adults and 1 child, which all of us had the Meat Meze which could have fed probably 30 people quite easliy.
Everyone was amazed at how much food and just how good it was, everyone commented it was by far the best meal they had on there holiday.
We will certainly be going back as soon as we can go back to Protaras.
I've not actually looked for all you can eat but I know what its like trying to feed a family and how expensive it can be ! (when we first started holidaying (is that a word?) there were 6 of us !)
So In Protaras is McDonalds where a simple burger is €1 and a simple drink is about the same... it also has some outside seating and isn't in a bad shop to be honest.. if you like this sort of food you could make a cheap night of it.. (as long as you stick to the cheaper burgers... ) failing that call in mid afternoon for a snack and then cut down how hungry they are later !
McDonalds in Protaras
I think that Pizzahut is still open (forgot to check) and they usually have meal deals, "two for one" or "all you can eat from this set menu for €8" type things... which is another option...
You can also go somewhere for a Meze which might cost €7.50 to €20 each (depending on the place) but its unlikely you could eat your share so if there were 6 of you, maybe 4 get the meze and 2 just get a simple meal then everyone pick and choose... (can anyone see the devious skinflint in me ?... lol)
I'm also not adversed to a bit of self catering ....tee hee...

I haven't read all 10 pages of this discussion, so don't know if Fat Mamas in Paphos has been mentioned. Serves American, Italian, and Mexican food. Fat Mama heself makes a nightly appearance, as does Cowboy Willy, her side kick! Good food & good fun!
NewcastleChris - Fat mamas in Paphos probably hasn't been mentioned as its at the opposite end of the island from Protaras, but thanks for sharing in case anyone takes a trip that way.
Promises/Promessa restaurant is lovely, it's one of our favourites actually. It's upstairs directly opposite fig tree bay. You can either sit inside or on their open balcony. The restaurant is actually in 2 halves owned by the same people. To the left, is 'Promessa' which specialises in Italien dishes, to the right, 'Promises' which serves international cuisine. (you can order from either menu in both). I would definitely recommend it.
There is a Mexican all you can eat and a Chinesse all you can eat, near the top end near McDonalds.
