and of a few other eating places in Protaras
http://www.heureka.clara.net/sunrise/protaras.htm
I have been many times to Cyprus (protaras)
The best place to eat is nicolas tavern, took me a while to find it but now
I know.
Prices are very fair, the service very good, sometimes when is very busy
maybe a little late, but hey who is in a hurry, we are on hollydays.
They have a nice menu for kids, but they told me ones that they can have anything of the menu in smaller portions.
For adults my recomentation is the cyprus meze(make sure you are hungry first) the lamb kleftico, ttavvas, meat balls, mixed grill, souvla, very good steaks and grills, almost everything its good there.
I can wait to go back, all the others are just trying to get to your money,
Specialy the one opposite nicolas tavern olympus I think, (I hate that guy on the door, very pushie)
And if you go to nicolas tavern ask for Thomas the headwaiter there, he will take care of you. And also Nicolas is very nice, but he shouts to much in the tavern, not in a bad way but its not nice for me.
Go to nicolas tavern and you will remember me.
Edited to add that the comment about them all wanting your money is technically right, who would refuse your custom. But I can't honestly remember a restaurant in Pernera/Protaras who has someone hanging about trying to get you in.Anyone I've been in has been through menu contents and how the place looked. After that it's going back after you've had a good meal which happened 8 out of 10 times out of the last 6 years.Strangley enough we've never eaten in Nicolas as most of the other restaurants are so good,so this place must be something else the way people rave about it.Last year the "in place" on this board was Divas so on that recommendation we tried it on our second night. We found it to be one of the most disappointing meals we have had in 12 weeks of holidaying there. We ended up eating 3 or 4 times in Andama,a place which was never mentioned but we found to be excellent, both food and service.
Hi AskCy
We are staying at the Livas in Aug, so right opposite to Noufero not far to walk , are you coming this year?
Michelle.
next year there are small plans a foot to go away in a massive group with all our children and their families, so its not likely we will be back the year after :-(
but one day...
and he will never do this.
And he will probably put the whole menu here for you.
Next time go to nicolas, you will enjoy it there.
Your dinner will not get spoiled.
Most of the other staff are a mix of Bulgarian, Rumanian and others from Eastern Europe (I'm also counting the kichen staff).
All very friendly.
The food is excellent and reasonably priced.
No one is pushy.
The other food places do sometimes have someone outside trying to drag you in. Speaks for itself really. These are the places to avoid.
Most places in Protaras are good, eg try No 1 in the centre of Protaras, but Nicolas Tavern is in a class all of its own.

Hi, going to cyprus in august, :D. Staying at the brilliant apartments in protarus. I will be celebrating my 40th birthday whilst there, any one know of any nice places to go for a nice meal to celebrate and where i might be able to get a birthday cake from?
The Brilliant apartments are lovelty you will enjoy your stay at them, a for nice place to eat we all have our favourites but I would recommend Nicolas Taverna.
As for cakes, ask the hotel, they maybe able to order one in for you, we done this for cousins 21 a few years back (stayed in Ayia Napa) and they were relaly good about it. If they can't do it they may be able to tell you can.
Have a good holiday and Happy Birthday
Agree Nicolas Tavern is fantastic - we went there 3/4 times in a two
week duration. Food is great and the waiter (you will know who I mean when you see him) is fantastic. He gave us a bottle of free wine 2nd / 3rd time we went and I ordered a salad for my main one night and he brought
me some stifado (full portion) free of charge.
Tables are open air and you can watch the world go by whilst
eating your meal- atmosphere is good too.
Cheers
Ali
for anatolias, just turn right out of the front entrance of the brilliant apartments and keep walkin til you get past the egyptian bar at the start of the strip.....although im not sure if they do birthday cakes!!
lianne xxxx
I have been told the corner house restaurant is fab, there is a bakery in ayia napa on nissi avenue (its only about 15 mins in a car) and I have been told that they make cakes to order for birthdays etc. Hope this helps
thanks everyone for the replys, we are there for a few days before it is my birthday so will check them out.
I don't think a meal went by without him giving us a free bottle of wine/dessert/coffee......Thomas the head chef is so helpful I would have to agree.
We drink white wine and every night Nicholas gave us a new one and they were all fantastic! even bought a few back with us.
Would reccommend this place to everyone.....
We only had one bad meal whist we were there this time and that was at Perla Blue which really dissappointed us because last year the food was fantasic but this year it was horrid!
can anyone give me and recommendations for restaurants in protaras or ayia napa
i live in paralimni so anywhere is ok i have been to a few restaurants but would like some more recommendations
