hi we were in Rhodes last year with a our teenage son who didn't want to move from the pool or the beach but this year we are on our own yipee, so we would like to explore the Island a bit more.
So is it possible to explore the island by bus. We are staying in Trianda so can we get a bus from there to where ever we are going i.e Lindos, Kameiros, Monolithos. Or would we have to go into Rhodes Town. How much do the bus fares cost and can we get timetables anywhere.
the bus [ pronounced to-leo-fario] bus stop [estarsi to leofario]
It's about €1 into Rhodes by bus and then a few more to Lindos (not sure of cost, but about €4 or 5 to Lindos). The last bus as the timetable says is about 6o'clock, so an overnight stay could be your best bet, then stop off in Afondou or Faliraki for a few hours on the way back.
Iwould hire a car for a few days to do the places that are a little further away driving around rhodes is fairly straight forward or you could take a taxi these are pretty reasonable just check the price before setting off and if you are lucky you may get one of the many drivers who enjoy showing off the island and will tell you about the places you are passing. and use the buses to go to places like rhodes town or kamiros. enjoy exploring rhodes its got a lot of hidden beauty
