Smallish place, about 18 bedrooms, no a/c. Friendly staff, great position and good food! Take a torch for the walk across the footy pitch on the way back to the hotel.
we were in one of the rooms overlooking the water and only one downside i found was it could be quite noisy with scooters, cars going through the bridge - ok during the day, but if you need your sleep in the evening, take some ear plugs, or make sure you have plenty of honeybee to pass out!

I think I will give the Honeybee a miss this time. I only ever tried it once and that was enough!!!
I've stayed at the riverside 3 times and will be back at the regency (over the other side of the bridge) in February. It is very basic but the staff are excellent and the food is great, last year they did special set menus changing every couple of days, my mouth is watering just typing about it. You will love it.

Riverside has a good Chinse restaurant now - Hibiscus. I would ask for a room at the rear away from the bridge which is now being "rebuilt", so lots of construction material lying around.
Ah yes the Hibiscus, I don't usually like chinese food but it was fantastic there, will definately be having another meal or two in February. Do you know if they have built or started building another block over the road at the regency, there was talk of it last last year???
I know where the Riverside Guesthouse is, but where is the Regency?
Also which tour operators do packages to these hotels? Thinking about trying there next November. Have stayed at Marinha Dourada 5 times and also Renton Manor once.
Thanks
Spottiswoode
The Regency is opposite on the other side of the river, it is run by the son Savio (I think that's how you spell it)and the riverside is run by the Mother. I'm pretty sure Manos are one of the operators but we always book direct and book our flights separate.
Thanks for quick reply Donna B
Hi Spottiswoode
We are going with Manos, I dont know if any other tour operator does this hotel.
I am booked with manos this jan,i notice they have no places left this jan but ok the rest,i got 3 weeks for £640
Thats a good price Poultonkid. Its cost us about that much for two weeks!
Sorry pendlewhitch for saying price of my holiday,I hate people talking how cheap they got there hols, and here i am doing it.But i think it will be a good basic hotel,i havent heard anyone realy say a bad word,so thats good.
I cant wait for January!
Lets hope the sublime reopens, nice to have 2 good restaurants on doorstep. Now the only thing to to do now, is start thinking what way i am going to get my visa,by post or collect.
They have started the replacement bridge at Baga, at the moment they are building a small bridge only wide enough for a scooter or walkers to the side of the original bridge, they are supposed to be building a proper road to connect with the Baga/Calangute road to come out near the La Calypso hotel. As GFF said the road at the moment is more potholes than road, probably hotmix it in the middle of the tourist season
Some very good information coming through, its as if i am in goa now.By the way GFF mentioned the booking office for the floating palace by the subway,is that the subway we have in england
