Hi Barrie
I found a thread here about it. I have also asked for it to be added to our reviews.

I stayed at the Riverside Regency last year. Beware, there are 2 hotels on opposite sides of the river with similar names. I looked at the thread that Fiona pointed us to, the hotel in the picture is the Riverside Guest House or sometimes referred to as the Riverside hotel. The person who took the pic stayed there in 2003, the Regency is a brand new hotel which wasn't built until 2004/05 and was expanded and pool added last summer.

The location of the Riverside Regency is dead opposite the Riverside hotel (opposite side of the river) on the road just before the bridge. The rooms are large and clean. I was placed in there because the Marinha Dourada was overbooked and would deffo stay there again.

I havn't stayed there but walked past quite a few times and it looks a really nice little hotel.
From what I saw I would not hesitate to stay there as I love the location on the Baga river.
The Baga river is a beutiful spot - if you walked to the beach you would have to keep going through the ugly box bridge which is not too bad in the day but I wouldn't attempt it after dark - I would use a taxi - they are cheap enough.

Hi

I have stayed at the Riverside for the past 3 years and my Dad and friends stayed at the regency this year. The Riverside is very basic, very friendly and the chinese restaurant (under the guesthouse) is very nice I don't usually eat chinese but I will definately go back there next year, the regency over the other side of the river is a little bit better in my opinion (we are booking there next year) it is newer and there was talk of a new block being built next year, they are also putting in a/c in some of the rooms. The restuaurant is small outside by the pool (undercover), we all ate there for several nights as they do a set menu (it changes every so many nights) which was very very nice. The staff are very helpfull and friendly and the rooms are always cleaned (as long as you leave your key at reception)

We are definately going back there next year so it can't be too bad!!!

hi walks
i would say it has to be a 20-30 walk..it may be quicker if they have finished the road direct to the bridge.
