I thought it strange that Rob has not been on the forum for a very long time but put it down to CWT been very busy, or he was taking a break

It must be very hard work and very wearing , looking after the kids and their problems, running the charity and battling with the authorititys for the number of years he has, hope he is OK

I have spoken to one of the trustees and everything is still carrying on. Obviously they can't discuss Rob leaving but I've been told he is always going to be more than welcome to visit. I am certainly going to carry on with donations. He should proud of what he has achieved there and let's hope that they continue to battle to do the best they can for the children of Mango House and the slums.

Received this email to-day from Rob and thought you should all be made aware of this. Like many of us who have supported him over the years with clothes, monies etc. for the children.

Robs Redundancy from Children Walking Tall
As many of you know I and a friend started Children Walking Tall 7 years ago after seeing first hand the lives that many children live in slums around Goa. During this time with the help of volunteers, staff and supporters we created "The Mango House" and provided help to hundreds of children, supplying daily meals, fruit, medical facilities and of course getting the children into School (And helping to keep them in school).

The past Month has been very difficult for me as I was informed on Wednesday 14th September that my position with the UK charity had been identified for redundancy; on Friday 16th September I had a meeting with the trustees and then received a letter from the trustees stating that I had been made redundant, the official reasons for the redundancy according to my letter are"¦.

""¦.As a result of our intention not to manage the Indian Trust by means of your direct employment with the Charity and out intention to manage the UK Charity's affairs from the UK"

"This is due to your position being made redundant as a result of a restructure of the charity's activities"

As you can imagine I was devastated by the news and did offer as an alternative to work in the UK, which they didn't require as there was only ‘part time' work available, I then offered for part time which they also refused. I would like to make a special thank you to Pat Hoy (Volunteer) who kindly supported me during my meeting, thanks Pat.

I don't know what else to say except to thank everyone for their kind support over the years and I hope the charity will always run with the idea of giving children a childhood worth remembering"¦

For those who wish to stay in touch, my personal email address is

PoipleShadow@Hotmail.com

I am also on Facebook (search for poipleshadow@hotmail.com).

Many Thanks

Robert Lyon

.. Give the children a childhood worth remembering!!! ..

Goangirl - Savita (the lady who was in the office) is handling most of it, although Jane the new trustee is handling the UK side

Fiona - Hi, I saw your post on the Facebook cause.. I didn't want to reply earlier as I was obviously upset and I might have said something I shouldn't have ;) I still hope that CWT will continue in the way I meant it to be, Savita, Saroja and Ali andthe rest of the Indian staff are still there and I have confidence in them...

I cant understand how it happens that they can make someone redudant who started such a worthwhile thing.

You think they would keep a founder in place...any way I hope it all keeps going and they remember the children that it was started up to help in the first place.

All the best for the future Rob in what ever direction your life goes now.

What about the children in all of this? I am sure they will really miss Rob as they had a lot of confidence in him. As is often the case, the wrong ones get made redundant. I wish you all the best Rob, you must be devastated.
