My husband and I have the chance of a romantic week or so away without our children. We like snorkelling and diving, but have never been to the Red Sea. We would maybe like to work towards our Open Water certification, as so far we have only done resort dives.
So, we want a hotel with a good house reef for snorkelling if possible, a dive centre on site or nearby, rooms that are as nice and romantic as possible and excellent food. Preferably AI.
We have been spoilt with hotels in the Carribean, and I realise that hotels/food/AI package in the Red Sea probably won't be quite the same, which is fine, but we'd like to try and get as close as possible, and the choice of hotels is mind boggling!
Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks!

you could do worse than consider the baron/baron palms.
They have an excellent house reeef and good dive centre on site in Sinai divers.

The best dive centre is the Aquarius Diving Centre which is based at the Conrad Hotel in Sharm, it is very close to Jackson Reef which is the best reef for diving. The hotel is not new, but the rooms are clean and the staff very friendly and it is right on the beach so you do not have far to walk to the Dive Centre. My husband received his PADI with Aquarius and the staff could not do enough for you, very friendly, and pointing out different interesting fish, including a baby whale shark which someone spotted.
If you go onto the Trip Advisor website and also look on this website for the hotel, we loved it so much we have re-booked to go back in Janaury 09.
