Nice report,Roxey, thanks.

You must share your accommodation secret! It's tempting to keep your great "finds" to yourself but it's not really in the spirit of HT, is it??. Besides, most of us already have our favourite places and as you say, the folk out there need all the help they can get at the moment because the season is not turning out to be too good.

Know what you mean about Nino's Nook but it is a friendly spot. Romeo, who runs Helen's stores is suffering because he's losing trade to the new Newton's supermarket. It's a real shame and I hope any HTers staying down there will support him - he and his wife Rosita are nice people. Never tried Tuscany Gardens but tempted to try it in Feb.

Welcome back to the cold!! :(

Great Report. We also tried Tuscany Garden twice in our 2 week stay of which one of the nights was new years eve last year, both emals were excellant and we thought the price was very reasonable too! From your description of the guest house I coudl take a gues at Lucia Beach Guest House which is were we stopped and was excellant and we made to friends for life in Lucia and Jospeh. Unfortunately this year we have had to cancel due to my partner being laid off but we will definately be going again next year

The guest house was Angelas Guest House, Ive just added a hotel review, I can honestly say that in all my years of holidaying in Goa, this place beat everywhere else hands down, we absolutely loved it - a real home from home.
My O/H thinks my report didnt give enough info on how the Mumbai terror strike affected Goa, but quite honestly apart from what we were reading in local newspapers everyday about increased security which in the main appeared to centre around South Goa we saw little difference apart from the coastguard buzzing over in their helicoptor at regular intervals. As usual the police presence seemed to be centred on ensuring that no shack had more than their allocated number of sunbeds and to remove the sellers from the beach. I personally missed the sellers, the little girl on the tightrope and the little ones doing their little dance in front of you for a nano second and then brightly smiling with their hand out for a few rupees.
One place I forgot to mention in our report was Shivers which was literally next door to our apartment, lovely surroundings, entertainment most nights (some good, some bad), nice food, certainly worth a visit.
We did briefly come to a couple of the meets but on both occasions the O/H was being a bit of a misery boots and didnt want to stay and chat - he doesnt get forum friendships sadly :cry.
For all its changes and problems my heart still belongs to Goa, I really hope that people wont be put off visiting. In all the restaurants and bars, from taxi driver to shopkeeper we were continually asked the question of would the tourists be arriving, they were all so worried about how quiet things were
