We have booked an Ocean View which room do you recommend we try and get if we can book one on the online check in 48hours before and have you ever upgraded when there as we are thinking of an Ocean Front but depends on the price of it.
Have you done the Hotel swap where you can stay a night in Cancun if so do you recomend? I have heard you may not get your same room back on return so this puts me of a bit.
Any hints and tips I would appreciate as we have nevr done an A/I beach holiday before.
I will have 1 million quiestions before I go for you thanks very much.
Liz
I would love to book the Cancun one but wouldn't want to be dissappointed and end the holiday on a low if it didn't add up to the same standard...there seems to be a lot of people think that the PDC Royal is much better
Are all the Cancun rooms sea views and what is the entertainment like and the location to shops bars etc?
Was your upgrade free as a returning guest? what time do the bars stop serving drinks etc and can cocktails be ordered to the room after bars have closed?
Thanks
Liz
We have exchanged nights and gone to the Royal Cancun but have done it at the end of the holiday. First year we had 10 days Playa and 4 days Cancun, 2nd year we did 7 days Playa and 7 days Cancun - stayed in a swim up suite unbelievable!! cost us only £100 extra for the week- well worth every penny! We were going to do the same this last year but we upgraded to a presidential suite - 2 storeys with our own upstairs pool/extra bathroom/kitchen etc, again cost us around £100.
A choice of 7 restaurants - no need to book - with the most excellent food, 'Starbucks' style coffee house, 24hr VIP lounge, fully stocked mimi bar, plus 4 bottles of spirits. be prepared to put on a lot of weight!
Have look on their website http://www.realresorts.com
Where did you do the presidential was it cancun or playa? I have the map thanks and have been looking on trip advisor since I booked at the reviews and the forums etc...it seems that mostly Americans post there and don't really give the detailed answers like you just have.
I would have thought it was more likely to be $100 per night upgrade.... really surprised at that and very happy.
Is it really as bad as what the people say about not getting beds or chairs at the beach and pool after 6am?
Really am looking forward to it the more I read up on it.
Did you book the meal on the beach? would like to do that.
Any days at the Spa, trips to Cozumal and lastly whats the shopping like for make-up etc?
Sorry if I am annoying you just say and I will leave you alone
RC is located in the hotel zone and a 10 mins walk from the bars and restaurants (Coco Bongos etc) although there are a couple of bars right opposite. Also very near to a huge shopping mall with every kind of shop you could want and a dolphinarium- even has a river running through it with gondolas !!
Most of the bars close at midnight but there is the 24hr VIP lounge where you can mix your own drinks - yes cocktails are available to your room although they do like you to order some food at the same time!
You are not annoying me at all - could talk about RPDC and RC all night!
Make -up in Playa - there is a big designer store called Liverpool just like a House of Frazer over here - has all kinds of make-up etc, not dirt cheap but cheaper than at home and all kinds of lovely brands you don't see here.
Didn't do the meal on the beach but saw a few do it, looked lovely but you can go to Pelicanos (beach restaurant) at night and that is very romantic too!
Cozumel was lovely, ferry about a mile walk down 5th Ave, great town centre and lovely for snorkling and suba diving if thats your thing.
Used the spa to get my hair done it was lovely and very upmarket, massages are expensive but often on special offer the only problem with the hydrotherapy pool was that they are not unisex.
Great gym, spinning classes and yoga belive me you will need them as the food is SO good and plentiful YOU will put weight on.!!
We have decided we will add on the Royal Cancun for 3 nights at the end to try it. Did your airport transfer pick you up at the RC and take you back to the airport at the end of your holiday?
What times of the year have you been to Mexico?
Thanks again
We have always been in September - right in the middle of hurricane season I know, but we have never had a problem with the weather.
You will just love it!!!
Would you recommend maybe 3 nights at the end of week 1 and then returning for last few days at RPDC that way if we prefer RPDC it will be ok and if we want to stay on in RC we may possibly be able to do that also?
I am so looking forward to it now!!!
You could do that if you prefer but it's a lot of packing and unpacking, plus 2 lots of taxi fares.!
You will love both of them......................
Thanks again
Where did you read that? ,No there is no extra to pay unless you upgrade to a better room.
