Just back from the royal star in lloret.
I went with my fiance to this hotel, and it was our first holiday together so we were looking forward to it.
And it didnt get of to the best of starts.
Firstly dont Travel with my Travel aka Airtours.
Our flight for departure at Glasgow was meant to be at 23.10 pm on 08.05.04 flight didnt come until 23.30, and we didnt board until 23.50, as we should have boarded at 23.10.
As we got on the plane there was a bit of a comotion between some passengers and air staff on why the plane was late and so on, most of them were a little bit drunk to say the least since it was a late flight.
Then before the plane moves the pilot makes an announcement saying that at the last minute a crew memeber has phoned in sick, so therefore we are stopping at Manchester to pick up an additional crew member.
Already an hour late and were going to Manchester.
(And it dosent get any better)
Were finaly in the air heading for Manchester.
Whilst in the Air the pilot makes an announcment saying he has been informed that his staff have been getting hurled abuse and he will not tolerate this on his flight, and that the smoke detectors in the toilet have went of several times.
Manchester: We touch down to pick up this crew member at 00.50. There is more Argueing on the plane.
01.05 still no sign of additional crew member.
01.10 2 engineers come onto flight checking things.
01.20 Another engineer person comes on, people start to panic thinking there is something wrong with the plane, people ask air hostess whats going on she replys nothing its just procedure, and people start saying procedure for what i thought we were picking some one up.
01.30: 4 more members from Airport Staff come in going into the piolots cabin.
01.40: I start to get fed up and i asked numerous air hostesses what the hells going on, i got numerous answers 1. It just routine checks when we touch down 2nd air hostess There is a number of passengers causing a disturbance, and they will be getting a talking to.
2.00 The Police come onto the flight and remove 9 Passengers of the flight.
Then we had to wait ages for there luggage to be removed in my opinion they should have left there luggage they shouldnt have caused a disturbance in the first place.
2.50: Finnaly in the air heading for gerona airport
04.45 uk time: We arrive in gerona exhausted froma 2-3 hour delay.
05.00 After we got our luggage we met our rep to get us on coach for hotel, and what a cheek all he could say is sorry for the delay but please dont complain to our office cause we dont like complaints i was to tired to argue.
07.00 spanish time, we arrive at the Royal Star having should have been there about 4.30.
Royal Star:
On arrival to the hotel the foyer was beautiful with marble flooring, leather suites etc
We checked in the Gray haired man on Reception didnt speak good english, and was very grumpy we had to get our photos tooken for our all inc card, my fiance got hers but then it broke down, so he said come back in morning.
Now instead of day by day i will now cut to the chase hhahaha
Breakfast: Not to bad theres always someting to eat bacon not as good as ours, beans are always watery, and boiled eggs are always over cooked having more grey than yellow in the egg. And if your wanting toast theres usually a big que for that. and as more days pass you will find that its the same breakfast every day
Lunch/Dinner: Past reviews there are some complaints about the food to day the least its basic, cheap meats etc, but there is someting for everyone, and you have to remember that Germans And French come to the hotel aswell, dont get me started about them, absoloutly ignorent, looking down on the british thinking its just there hotel.
Snack Bar: I was not happy with this my first burger had stones in it meaning hard gursel, but after that they were ok, Some hotdogs were like Rubber. And watch out for Leftovers from breakfast/Lunch/DInner getting added to the snack bar which is ridicolous.
Bar: The bar was ok, and the measures were fantastic half a glass no joke a vodka measure was problay equivelent to 3 glasses in the UK. So be warned take your time. And if it says in your brochure International Drinks dont be fooled beacause its not, since when was Klein Cola an int drink who? exactally.
All drink were local makes but they were bot bad i.e Baileys was called Willys, and just tasted like it.
Cocktals in the bar you had to pay for them, they has a random one a day for all inc, but they didnt make it it fancy like if you paid for one.
Most of the barman are quite freindly but the odd one or 2 dooooorrreee faced looking. And one of them is quite funny he sounds different everytime you speak to him like a spanish accent the australlien you will no the one, and the girls loved him lol.
And if your not happy with the local drinks you can buy the brand drinks for a discounted price but whats the point, or you can buy a gold card for 20 euros, which allows you take get a bottle of wine and water at meal times, and as previous reviews, if you go up and ask for wine they pour it out of them bottles, pointless or what.
Every meal time the french and Germans would be showing of there gold cards for there free bottles of wine.
Hotel Staff: Most of them are freindly and gladly to assist. Some of the staff in the resturant specially the the young girls need to smile a little bit.
Hotel Cleanliness: Not a bad word at all Bed sheets cleaned every day floor mopped everyday bath room towels everyday rubbish emptied every day what more can you ask for, Extremley clean hotel. There always someone about cleaning.
Hotel Rooms: Beautifully furnished rooms with dressing table, 2 bed side tables, a massive closset with extra bed sheets, ironing board safety deposit box.
Also Temperture control comes on at certain times though.
Satellite T.V thats a joke though not that you will be watchin t.v on holiday you should be sunning it up in the beautiful lloret weather, dont be fooled in getting a remote control for 20 euros deposit coz theres only to english speaking channels CNN and BBC World a con if you ask me.
Location: Ideal location just a minute walk from the centre of lloret. Watch for the busy roads though carefull if you have childrean to cross into the centre you hsve to go across a fly over, and the lloret drivers are maniancs.
Entertainment: Not to bad the entertainment programs are crap avoid the flamenco show, and a band that plays there cant remember there name. Mostly designed for the kids, and alex and syllvia are fab with them HI ALEX AND SYLLVIA FROM SCOTT AND LAURA lol.
Theres plenty for the kids and adults to do with them during the day, i.e pool shuffleboard, darts etc, the pool comp is bad though you have to play to pay 2 euro when really alex or syllvia should have a key for it.
Watch out for Alex in numerous ways, adding stipoulations to games that if you lose you go into the pool.
Excurrsions: Highly recommend the Barcelona Fountains value for money and fantastic the guide is a bit exentric though you visit The Nou Camp, Las Ramblas, and go shopping for 3hours, then at night finished of with the spectacoulor fountains. Also check the waterpark, but will you dare ride the storm or kamazazze, i did and i lived to tell the tale.
Go kart racing was good to, but the guy that ran the thing didnt speak one word of english not even hillo or thankyou
Weather: 21c-24c really nice rained twice in 14 days
you can also use your all inc cards at sister hotels, on what we seen we got the better piece of the cake.
Recommend you try out the casino, need to know what you are doing though coz there all in spanish at the tables, recommend you stick to the slots.
TIp********** WATCH OUT FOR PEOPLE WORKING FOR CLUBS BETWEEN 5-NIGHT CLUB SHUTTING TIMES GIVING OUT FLYERS FOR FREE ENTRANCE INTO THEM, WE WENT IN ONE NIGHT TO A CLUB AND GLADLY TOOK ON WHEN WE GOT IN THEY SAID WITH THIS TICKET YOU HAVE TO PAY 20 EURO FOR 2 FREE DRINKS, THEY SAID WHERE U FROM WE SAID SCOTTSH, THEN HE DIPPED IT DOWN TO 12 EUROS SO WATCH OUT ENGLISH PEOPLE, SO BASICALLY ITS A CON GETTING A FLYER.
Also watch out for the hotel is a bit noisy uring the small hours.
Facilites: 2 Bars giving entertainment for all different ages on bar has entertainment for the more senoir audience and the other is for kids and adults.
2 outdoor pools with sunbeds, and 2 kids pools attatched.
Games room to dear, and needs refurbuished.
1 indoor pool complete with jacuzzi sauna and gym, really nice down there, and pool is shallow so kids can go down to
1 nursery
1 laundry
2 shower/changing rooms

Rep for Airtours, we wanted to complain about our flight, and my fiance coming down with a stomoch bug and a few others did as well, and that the hotel rowdiness at night, she was in the middle of surfing the net for her own pleasure so she said you can do it today the complaint form or tommorow trying to fob us of whilst it was clear that she wanted to surf.
so we left it to tommorow, to find she was on a training course, then the next day she forgot so she just gave us the address of cust services, she was not the best of reps.
Just got back a couple of weeks ago from Lloret, Me and my girlfriend stayed in the Royal Star all inclusive for two weeks! Im 22 and my girlfriend is 18 so straight away this place didnt realy suit us! This hotel is cattered for families (totally) The good points about the hotel were its clenliness and its devotion to making sure kids had a good time, but only kids! The entertainment every night consisted of a show for the kids followed by the same bad disco every night, and because we got the local drinks for free wee sat most nights and suffered it! The food at this hotel isnt up to scratch, its certainly not a four star hotel, ive stayed in better two star ones! There isnt enough selection especially for dinner, every time they cooked meat it was pink in the middle (sickning). I would not reccomend this hotel for a lads or lassies holiday for a few reasons - 1 you are told to keep the noise down after 12 and 2 your not allowed to bring partners back to your hotel! (Friends should i say). At the end of the day i would recommend this to familys and familys only!
Have booked a holiday with my boyfriend before checking the internet! The hotel sounds disastrous! Anybody been? I'd be really grateful if you let me know how the holiday was. Thanx
Have you seen the H.Top Group's website info on this hotel? http://www.htophotels.com/eng/hotels/toproyalstar.htm there are loads of pictures and stuff on the website.
Hi It's Me and welcome to HT!
Hi, I have also booked to stay at this hotel with my boyfriend before checking the internet. I nearly died when I read some of the reviews but I just hoping that it might not be so bad!!!
Elizabeth
After reading all of the reviews, quite a few people have said that when they get there - the hotel doesn't have a record of their booking or that they were booked in elsewhere. I have emailed the hotel for confirmation and have heard absolutely nothing back!
I read a couple of reviews where they told people that they would have to stay at another hotel, so i telephoned the travel company we booked with and they sent me some confirmation detailing all the dates and times of flying and th hotel name saying we had booked all inclusive too cos i read one review on the reviews that some people that stay are not all inclusive..
What dates do you go because I keep wondering what the weather will be like too...
I go on Saturday 18th September - I've just looked on the web and it's coming up as 24 degrees. Not too bad. When do you go?
I stayed at the Royal Beach in May of this year with my husband and three children. The Royal Star is part of the same group of hotels and when we visited one night for our evening meal, the food was just as good as at the Royal Beach. We also visited one time during the day and thoroughly enjoyed it, although the pool area was a little smaller than at our hotel and the indoor pool was a bit tucked away (in the basement). All in all though there wasn't anything 'bad' about the Royal Star from what we saw. Happy holidays.
I dont go unitl the 28th so maybe you can post and let me know how you get on...
My friend is in Lloret de Mar at the moment and she texted yesterday to say that she was laid on the beach and the place is really nice. She had walked past the Royal Star and said it looked really nice but she didn't go inside..
Im just hoping for nice whether...
So am I - I'll let you know all about it when I come back! Say a prayer the sun will be splitting the stone!
the royal star hotel is right in the middle of fenals and lloret de mar.
its right on a very very busy main road and if you go into lloret de mar or fenals unfortunately you will need to cross this road. (very fast changing traffic lights at each end of the road , fenals and lloret)
from the outside i have to be honest and say it didnt look upto the standard of either the royal beach or the casino royal, but in saying that, with all the road traffic the (smog) would not help it.
spoke to a few people who went there for a meal (needs to be booked 1 day in advance and you are given a voucher, though you can go into any of the hotels for a drink at any time), and they said the food was of a good standard.
as for the weather.
from last wednesday till saturday night when we left to go home, it never dropped below 30 degrees during the day (max was 37) at night it was 21 degrees. though i would hazard a guess and say the royal star is fully air conditioned like the royal beach (plesent surprise when you walk in the door after a day on the beach )
hth
baggage handler.
A group of 9 of us stayed there on the all-inclusive package recently and generally thought it great value for money. The food was standard buffet affair but nothing better or worse than we expected for the price! Facilities were genarally good only down side was that our room was overlooking the cemetry to the rear of the hotel and the busy main road to the front of the hotel was a bit of nightmare to cross over. We found staff reasonably friendly despite numerous trips to the bar and the entertainment was ok to a point so although it may not appeal to everyone i would give this hotel 7 out of 10.
It's a nice hotel but the only thing to watch is the views from some of the blaconies are dodgy.
On the side you have Lloret cemetary. Also, at one place on the back there's a spot where the balconies are in the bottom of a V shape and look over the flat roof of the ground floor and the only real view is of other peoples balconies on the other side of the building :). But as long as your view is ok (or you're not bothered) you'll have a great time I'm sure.
But you forgot to mention the coffee 'substitute' Hotels use - absolutely disgusting and I still haven't figured out exactly what it is.
Nowadays we always take a breakfast 'livener' pack with us which consists of HP Sauce, Heinz Tom Ketchup, Bovril, Nescafe Instant coffee, salt and pepper. This little pack has turned many drab breakfasts into enjoyable feasts.
my friend is going here on the 8th of june,is it a good hotel.is it suitable for older guests as my friends mum and aunt are going too.
anyone.
