I'm torn between these two and the price is nearly identical.
The Rubicon appears slightly more luxurious (4 star plus), looks nicely spread out and is a little nearer town I think. We've stayed at the Lanzarote Princess several times and we like the H10 group.
On the other hand the Papagayo is proper all-inc, with everyone on the same basis, unlike the Rubicon which has an HB option and 3 tiers of all-inc according to your coloured wrist band. Also the Papagayo has the pizzeria and Oriental restaurants in addition to the main buffet.
Anyone stayed at both and got any preference ?
the rubicon is a lovely hotel but we have decided to stay at the papagayo arena this time purely because I can hardly find a bad review for it.
The pizzeria was just an add-on in the restaurant and the Oriental was only available once a week.
Not inspiring. It is a very nice hotel though and I am sure you will enjoy your holiday.
Luckily, we went there before we visited the Bahia Principe in Tenerife because after going there, we would not go back to Papagayo Arena as although similar, there really is no comparsion!
Interesting, as we've also stayed at the Bahia Principe Tenerife, really enjoyed it and have booked for next Easter.
Food for thought....
This will be the first time we have booked AI .
We are doing a two-centre trip this time with the first part of the holiday at the Arena and the rest of the stay in a villa next to Monatana Rojo.
It was meant to be a Fuerteventura/Lanzarote holiday but we couldnt find suitable flight times for the return from Fuerte.
Its not a problem though a we prefer Lanz.

If we could afford it, we would love to go there but it is not just the price of the holiday to consider - it is how much drinks and meals cost there. If we win the lottery - we will go there!!
Have a good one, Andy and Crockett.
Rubicon and Papagayo are pretty reasonable, especially as this is xmas I'm looking at.
Two centre trip sounds good Andy, and I agree with you Lanza is much nicer than Fuerte.
That reminds me, I often read that the Rubicon is very windy, due to it's exposed/elevated position. That would be factor at xmas when the temperature is lower anyway, and I just wondered if anyone had any comments on that ?
