Hi, I am booked into the Rubicon for June this year and have upgraded to a club room. I have read in the reviews and on this forum that the accommodation is spread over a large area and wondered if any body knows where the club rooms are situated. I would like to be near the pool where the pool and snack bar are located by the way what are the snacks like and can you get alcohol at the pool bar?
Son'
we stayed at the rubicon last may and we loved it.
I believe the club palace rooms are situated all along the front of the hotel
the main pool and pool bar are right in the middle of the complex in front of the main part of the hotel. Why not try emailing them direct to ask for rooms by the main pool/snack bar? I emailed them with room requests before we went and they were very quick to reply and gave us what we asked for. you can email the hotel through the h10 website http://www.h10.es just find the rubicon details and there will be a contact link on there somewhere.
The snacks at the pool bar are ok (or were last year!) mainly consists of burgers, hotdogs and pizza over lunch time and you can get icecream, fruit and cakes there more or less all the time its open (which was 10.00-17.00) and yes you can get alcohol at the pool bar too!!
any more questions just ask!!!

Like Fatcodycat said, Club rooms are all right on the sea front, with lovely views, although no beach. The hotel does cover a massive area, but the main pool and beach bar where drinks and snacks are served, are right in the middle, so you are never more than a minute or two's walk away. Went last year and food in both the beach bar and restaurants was excellent, as is everything else about the hotel.
Reading different websites alot of people have mixed views.
Any information on food, sun lounger availability, staff, room etc... would be greatlt appreciated !!!
Cheers
Stayed at R.P. last summer. Food was excellent. Always a really good choice, and of very good quality. Staff throughout the hotel were all very pleasant and polite. Our room had 2 double beds, and a single bed settee type of thing, all which were very comfortable. The room was spacious and cleaned thoroughly every day. Bathroom big and kept very clean. We had a beautiful sea view, which we had not paid extra for, but I can not remember the room number. This is the only hotel we have been to where we could get sunloungers at any time of day. There were always a few available, except at the main pool where the day time entertainment takes place. If you want loungers here, you need to be there about 8am to reserve them with your towels. Towels are provided free of charge. This is a beautiful hotel and we would love to go back one day.
Hello Son......... we stayed at the RP in September last year. There are different types of club rooms. We stayed in a Club Palace junior suite, but there are also Club Palace , Club, and just Palace rooms. It can be a little confusing, but if you go into H10 website you can find out what you are getting. Most (but not all) of these rooms are directly on the sea front, and they look like villas. They all have wooden sun loungers on the terrace or balcony, and you get extras, like your bed turned down at night, chocolates on the pillow, the next days weather forecast, bathrobes, slippers. We were all inclusive, so our mini-bar was stocked as required, you also get a newspaper delivered, but it's all on the website. Also your pool towels are in your room, and you don't need to change them with the attendant, the maid replaces them for you. If you need any more info, just ask.........so much going on there so can't really put it all on here...........have fun, regards, Linda x
Anyone know if the Rubicon Palace has wi fi? seems expensive to use internet there so thought I could take laptop with me?
Nor sure about the Rubicon Palace but while I was at the Natura Palace I picked up two wifi connections. I am sorry but they were deleted on my return home so cannot give you their names and cannot comment on the performance or whether they were free or not as I never used them.
as Rubicon is quite a way out I am not sure if it would pick up which is why I was wondering specifically for that hotel - or any cyber cafes in the area. I run a business on line and need to keep an eye on things!
There aren't any in the Rubicon area, but there are a couple in the town centre.
And yes, as Bawbee says... there are a couple actually in the town centre.
You could also use the amusement arcade for normal internet access, or the vodaphone shop, opposite the Correos (Post Office) both cost 1 euro for 20 minutes. But you can't plug in a memory stick or use a disk in either of those.
If you end up further along the seafront... the Wax Bar in CC Papagayo (next to Playa Dorada) has wifi access, as long as you buy a drink. You could watch the big screen sports at the same time, if that tickles your fancy.
The Rubicon is absolutely gorgeous... I've been in there a few times over recent weeks - and we would definitely recommend it.
Have a great holiday!
Will take the lap top and it will give us a good excuse to go for walks to some bars!!!
Elle - thanks for saying how nice it is there - was a bit worried as a few of the reports haven't quite been 100%!!
We had a lovely time when we were at a wedding there recently! When my fella's boys are over this summer, we're taking them there for a break too - they'll love it... plus then I don't have to cook for 5 people at once lol! It really is nice there. When are you coming over?
Elle x
Hi Elle = we are coming on 15th August - my boys are 11 and 9. Am also coming with my neice (16) and would like to meet any other 16 year olds because she is always 'bored' , her mum (my sister) and granny who is 80+ so we have a real mixture group
booked the H10 Rubicon Palace in July AI
have read the reviews and found them helpful.
Just wondering if any one has been and wouldn't mind if I'm able to ask you any questions that come to mind. ie anyone use the spa facilities. and it seems to be a huge hotel what about the sun bed situation?
Also Any one have any info on Playa Blanca resort.
any info hints greatfully recieved.
Lisa
Hi Lisa, I've been to the Rubicon, so if you want to know anything PM me, and if I can answer your questions I'll be happy to. Linda....... :sun21
Or you can post on the forums for the benefit of other members.
the Rubicon Palace (it's actually 2 mins as the crow flies)... and the staff really do look
after you. They have a website so you can have a bit of a description too.
http://www.bodyandsoullanzarote.com The owner of the health spa is called Yola - tell her Elle says
Hi. Oh, and they've got yoga classes there now too, with Gill who has recently moved to the
Island, and has set up there. See you there for the shoulder stands. As for Playa Blanca - the world is your oyster! From your hotel, head to the seafront. You'll
soon reach a stretch of bars etc called "La Mulata". From the seafront side you'll see a gorgeous bar called "Manea"... it's decorated all in white, and has low seating, swinging chairs, chilled out music... and really is worth a few drinkies in. As you face that bar... look to the left hand side of it, and you'll see a flight of stairs. Go up those and there's more. To your immediate left is "Transylvania" - God we love that place! It's a Romanian restaurant... with buckets for wine glasses, and a great menu. i recommend the stuffed eggs as a starter (3 hard boiled eggs, halved, and stuffed with the most amazing pate). For main course... just try anything! I wasn't so keen on the escalopes... but the veal is to die for! On the other side of the staircase is La Campana - a fabulous Italian restaurant run by Ana and Salvatore. There's also Pinxtos which (in my personal opinion) has the best tapas in Playa
Blanca. The Argentinian Grill apparently excellent - but I haven't tried it personally so can't comment.
carry along the seafront - and get to the port and you will come across Punta Limones. This has The Irish Anvil, which is always popular... Popeyes... which shows the sports (if that's your thing)... there is also Alfie Moons for your soaps and a warm welcome. Then you also have Legends, which is a karaoke bar, and the Coach and Horses which has recently moved there. Rooftops is there - and is the only English run nightclub in Playa Blanca. Say Hi to Rich and Kate from me - or we'll just see you at the bar for a drink. Do a Google search for them - and you'll find their web page in the first 3 or 4 results. Don't try and just "stop off on the way back for one or two", as it's nigh on impossible!
Ok... going past Punta Limones you have the old harbour. there are various trips you can book from there. Aquaticket have an office right on the harbour... and can sort your daytimes for you. Keep going... over the harbour gravel, and up the stairs and you come to the main shops in Playa Blanca. You can either stick to the seafront, or you can go up the stairs again to the pedestrianised area.
On the seafront, we love Mamma Rossa for cheapo pizza and Mexican food. Going on from there (this is about a 30 minute walk from your hotel so far) is a real glut of restaurants. Pedro's is renowned as the best seafood in Playa Blanca. If you plan to go for Sunday lunch there, then do book, as it gets very busy with the Islanders. Just past there is the Almacen, which is superb! It's a little pricey - but very much worth the money! As you will see, this is right on the town beach, which is always good for a sunbathe and a paddle. During the evenings you can see the young lads training for Canarian wrestling. Keep going along the promenade, and you'll find Brisa Marina. it has green awnings, and parrots on a perch outside. We love this place... and go back time and time again! Try the "Pulpo con vingrette" - my mouth waters just typing this! Further along still you will see L'Artista up on a first floor. Another superb Italian restaurant (Salvatore from La Campna I already mentioned, used to be the chef here). next to it is the Galeria, run by Sue and Andy (we'll come back to him shortly lol).
Ok... now you will see a half-built hotel - complete eyesore - close your eyes and keep going. oh, unless the young canarian boys are jumping off the seawall and doing belly flops. You'll cringe when you see them, as the rocks below them are treacherous!
Walk along the promenade for another 10 minutes or so, and you'll reach the biggest beach in Playa Blanca - Playa Dorada. You can do all sorts of water sports here if that's your thing.
Just behind Playa Dorada is CC Papagayo which is a complex with bars, shops and restaurants in it. This is where Jungle Bar is - great for late nights (and I mean LATE). Atlantic Bar fills up around midnight. Mollies is ont he top floor, and is worth an Irish Craic. Downstairs from Mollies is one of our favourite bars. Phil runs this place, and runs it extremelt well. A couple called helen and Mark have just joined the business... and are busy building the daytime activities for families. http://www.waxbars.com Here you will also find the Powerhouse Rock bar, run by Andy (I mentioned him earlier with regrds to the Galeria?). A cracking night in there, a little loud for my ears... but a real welcome change in the resort. Up the next set of stairs again... and on the left you have Snorkelling Delights, run by Tracey
http://www.snorkellingdelights.eu here you can book a snorkelling trip, buy all the kit, and book all
sorts of other stuff too. Opposite there is a little cafe. Order a pastela from there - oh my god, they're fantastic... and ideal for a light lunch. Ok... I'm rabbitting on now... and haven't even mentioned the marina yet - or Papagayo beaches, or any of the attractions a short way out of the resort...
If you want me to carry on and post more I will... but I also won't be offended if you don't
Elle xx
