The main pages seem OK but when I go into a thread the screen is now stretched and I have to scroll left and right to read the messages
I think it maybe due to the adverts at the bottom as the problem does not occur where these do not appear.
nick
Try ctrl -/+ or ctrl mouse wheel up/down. Does this help?
rp your tips certainly make scrolling easier thanks but it also shrinks the writing I have my resoloution set at 800 x 600 as I have a vision problem so I was thinking it may be something in the new programming that needs tweaking. Also wondering if anybody else affected
Hi there. yes, I have also had to scroll from left to right and vice versa since the adverts were introduced inbetween the messages. But I;ve got used to doing that now.
This has been happening to me too. Must admitt it puts me off of using the forum a bit as I have arthritis and it's literally a pain having to keep scrolling across to read posts properly, although I guess it's not a probelm for most people. Unfortunately not very computer literate so didnt understnd what was posted above to alter it.
Hold down the Ctrl button (bottom left on the keyboard) and press the + or _ keys a few times. This increases or decreases the size of the font. When the font gets small enough, the whole screen comes into view. Unfortunately, as nickmacuk says, by that time the font may be too small to read easily. Alternatively, roll the mouse wheel up and down whilst holding the Ctrl button.
Also if I hold down control and click + sign on right of keyboard (numberpad bit) an 'add to favorites' screen come up very odd!
Have I got my key board set wrong?
Sorry to be so dense, although I think I understand but my 'puter doesn't
If you are using IE resizing the font doesn't work,i've tried and mine wont work, but it does work when browsing with Firefox.
You could always resize your desktop when on here(it's easy to do),that will give you the whole screen but smaller lettering.
Just ask if want help with it.
Basil.

Please, Nick why are you so anti admin and mods, what have we ever done to you. We are waiting for Van to take a look at it, other than that there isn't anything we can do at the moment, so please give us a break.
Sarah
Sorry about that, Basil. I hadn't realized that anyone used IE.
Is there somewhere to look to find out which one I have ?
As an aside to all this, I am not actually sure if it is the google ads that are stretching the page. I think it might be poor Maddy I'm sure I noticed it when her picture went up but didn't like to mention it then and was only brave enough once folk started to blame google.

Try pressing the F11 key.
Trying that, but no luck. Do I have to hold something else down?
Oh! Think I've cracked it. Thanks Mark.

Why are you so anti member Your reply has just confirmed my point You could have just informed me and the othe rposters of your actions, a couteous response to a genuine problem was all I wanted
I certainly have no problems with the mods on here but that doesnt mean they are infalible most seem to be able to understand the concept of constructive crticism.
I don't think it was the Maddy picture allthough that seems to have disappeared now. The main index pages seem OK its just when I go into a thread that the problem occurs and the only thing different there is the google ads.

Sorry to be such a thickie. But I think Mark has solved my problem with his F11 command.
Cheers, Doe
Nick, I think Maddie is still on the main index page. It must have been a coincidence that I went all wide at the time that picture went on, but I seem to be sorted now. Thanks for all the help guys.

Mods and admin can alter a link within a members post to reduce the stretching of a page which we do without 'jumping' on the members. However, banners etc which need coding are the webmasters department and out of the control of mods and admin.
