i live in san jose. vista alegre is an 'urbanisation' (like a housing estate) built on the top of cliffs. last year after heavy rains some apartments collapsed completely there.

you would need a car to get anywhere from here as it truly is pretty well in the middle of nowhere. there isn't a beach nearby - a couple of miles down a steep narrow road will bring you to es torrent's pebble beach and fish restaurant - and the roads are quite narrow and winding to arrive there.

i've no idea about the accommodation but at least you know about the area now........

Thanks for that, we have gone ahead and booked as we (seemingly wrongly) thought it would be nice as we were booking it through our time share.
We wanted a quiet week and we will have a car so shouldn't be a problem.

you'll be fine with a car and designated driver. the accommodation really does depend on the type of holiday you want - not so good if you want karaoke and kiddies clubs, great for relaxing and tranquility. try a night out in the village of san jose!

Its a relaxing week we're looking for, going to the madness that is Orlando Florida in May and it just seemed a long time until Summer 2008 when we could visit Ibiza again. Will certainly go to San Jose for an evening, I think we drove through there last year, we were staying at Cala llonga and were heading for that side of the island to watch the sunset.
My husband talked me into taking a picnic and a blanket and we sat on the beach, absolutely wonderful evening, don't know which beach we was on but practically deserted apart from a few people doing the same thing.
