Thanks for your help guys - Brilliant.
Just one more thing (in my best Columbo voice! ), are there safes available, are they in the rooms or at reception, and is there a fee?
Thanks again!
Safes ar in rooms and there is a charge payable at reception, but not sure how much. We didn't need one, left passports with reception, an as all inclusive not much money with us.
The cost of the safes are about 30 euros for 2 weeks so I should imagine they will be half price for 1 week, plus a deposit that you have to pay which you get back once you hand back the safe key.The safes are normally located in the cupboard where you put your clothes...Only 42 days to go before we go back Yippee
just booked a week at the hotel for july 2008,we are going diy, flights booked, waiting to book an apartment in es cana for the first week to spend with my dad, already booked second week via thompson hotel only website at a good price.rang up to ask for interconnecting rooms, but forgot to ask for a seaview, does anyone know the best floor/rooms to request for these.also which night is boogie nights on?(i havent had time to read all the thread yet,im sure the answers will be in there somewhere)thanks. mo.
Have just come back from San Miguel and Boogie night was Thurs 9/8, being alternate week if u know what i mean.
oh no,it means i might miss it if we go for i week. mo.
All the rooms have a seaview but the higher the room number the more sea you see so to speak.
Mick.
Has anyone stayed in the apartments at San Miguel Hotel ? I understand that you can have AI and that they have access directly to main hotel.Would like advise as to accomodation arrangement, what they're like.
Thanks
Hey. Yes they do have access to the main hotel, but if you want to eat in their restaurant you have to book via reception, just so they know to cater for more I think. I much prefer the appartments to the main hotel, especially if you have kids as it is much easier to get to the pool every morning. It all depends on how many people are going though as to how the room is arranged. Anything else and I will be happy to help
Thanks for that, if you have to book restaurant are you still all inclusive?
Yes, its exactly the same eating in the hotel restaurant, appart from being much bigger than the club.
Thanks for your help.
Hi selfey - I have sent you a PM re the apartments. If you stay in them you use the Hotel restaurant rather than the Beach Club.
Wow, only a week and a half to go, its getting closer! We fly out on 1st September for a week so if anyone has any questions that have not already been covered in this forum please feel free to give me a shout, and I will see what I can do to answer on return.
go on wed 29th august cant wait
Very tired, just thought I'd do a post while I wait for the washer to finish, will post a full review once I've had a couple of sleeps and finished with the washing and ironing, and written my long letter of complaints to Thomson...
This was the first time we've travelled with Thomson and it will most probably be the last. Very disappointed with their level of service and poor information. Had a four hour delay going out (on a flight that had already been put 9 hours later than when I'd first booked the holiday) and then a 5½ hour delay coming back. Apparently, the same flight last week (TOM 2419/2420 Manchester) had an 8 hour delay, so just about everyone on our flight home was pretty angry and fed up
Arrived at the hotel to find the Thomson excursions I had planned from their website (Spirit of Ibiza & Secrets of Formentera) were not available from that hotel due to it being a Superfamily hotel (those particular excursions are only available from Thomson Gold hotels) No similar excursions were available locally - just the usual catamaran cruises, shopping trips, waterpark etc.
Then I found out the "Grid" teenagers club, which was in the brochure and was one of the reasons for choosing that hotel, was not available this season and had been scrapped after the 1st Edition brochure, but Thomson hadn't bothered writing to inform us of this change
Apart from my own personal issues with Thomson (which may or may not apply to other guests) the hotel itself was lovely, most of the staff were great (apart from the short tubby barman on the beach club pool bar) The food, although limited in variety and choice, was hot, fresh and tasty and all my jeans are now far too tight...
Managed to get out and about a bit, went to Portinatx on the mini-train, went to the caves up near The Galeon, went on the glass-bottom boat and also surrendered to the shopping urge and booked the Santa Eulalia/Es Cana Hippy Market trip with the agent across the road.
Weather was on and off - absolutely lashing it down at the airport when we arrived, a couple of cloudy days, then a couple of "scorchio" days, followed by a thunderstorm and power cuts on the Sunday night, then more scorchio for another 8-9 days, and then rain on the final 2 mornings.
The entertainment was every bit as good as everyone says, Zorro & Co are fantastic, and even the Thomson reps (particlarly Clare and Jonny) were OK, although the Thomson show this Monday (20 Aug) had us in stitches because it was so bad Anyone who was there on "Mr San Miguel" night (14 Aug) don't forget to check out a certain video-hosting site How can anyone live their whole life and not know the words to YMCA...?
Met some great people, including joanmc & family - big "Hi!" to you guys, hope you enjoyed Boogie Nights as much as we did, wish I could have been there to see it again
Overall, we had a good holiday but although I can understand why people go there year after year, I don't think we'd go back again, purely because we've never done the same place twice and because I feel that I've seen it and done it now, and I found the resort of Puerto San Miguel very restricting. We'll be back in Ibiza in 2-3 years when daughter is old enough for clubbing but it'll be Playa d'en Bossa for us next time.
