This is the first year we not been to the san miguel since 2000 , we shud be there now with Taffy and Jan (hi to you both hope u missing us) but alas hubby having to work.
Anyway we booked for next year 10th May for 2 weeks (first time with out the kids) and 20 sept for 2 weeks (taking our 7 year old grandson). Zorro will be there next year with rest of his crew he been saying for last few years he leaving.
i've been twice now and i have booked up for next year 5th june 2008 for 2 weeks i can't wait
John
will upload some San Miguel video to that tube site when I get back, never thought to do so before .... I have lots of video of Zorro etc
Looking forward to seeing those
Zorro and crew were great - got us all involved. You can see the man himself and my daft hubby on a clip I've posted on the well known video sharing site - the one with tube in the title.
Search under san miguel and zorro and you should find it - it's the Miss San Miguel 2007 one.
Hope to post a couple more clips if I've got time but that's the best one.
saw video on certain site showing floods at San Mig Hotel, anyone there say how bad the damage was?
At least the San Miguel will have to get the decorators in now!!!
Watched it again, its not outside!!!!
strange still came back with a good tan.good job i went for 16 days.feel sorry for those who only went for aweek.
molliemoo, - looks like it could be on the first floor, but it is too hard to see really.
Must have been some storm. The first year we went to the hotel there were storms and torrential rain at the end of August and the rain came through the windows next to the lifts so the floors were flooded then but there was no river running down the stairs as is shown on the video!!
Just a thought - does anyone know if the apartments were flooded as well as the hotel?
With any luck they'll have to get new furniture and paint the place.
Guy has written very scathing report re.flood on Trip advisor, sounded really bad, what the hell, we've booked now, dont suppose this is the 1st time its happened!
I read the review too. It does seem as though things were a bit chaotic. However the guy said there were no emergency lights, and there is one clearly lit in the video clip. The hotel is closed now for the winter, I'm sure everything will be tip top by opening. And if there were any safety issues or evacuation issues, they will be addressed.
I'm sure it would happen again if there was a storm of that magnitude, as the location of the hotel no matter what they did, would catch all the downpour. I'm there on June 11th next year, and am not overly concerned about it yet.
I think this hotel is the same as many abroad and perhaps wouldn't meet our stringent safety standards. We stay in the apartments and sometimes use the external fire escape steps to access the pool areas - we have commented that we wouldn't like to have to negotiate the steps if there was an evacuation from the hotel as they are different widths on different floor levels which could possibly cause people to fall over if there were a lot of people using them at the same time.
Hasn't put us off returning though - we love it at San Miguel!
hi i'm going june 9th next year we can't wait, as for the flood i was in zante about 3 years ago during a storm and the whole island had no power for 24 hours thus no flushing toilets ,horrific lightening ,rivers for roads etc ,it was fun, life is what you make it!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i can't wait until next year yippee
I was starting to get interested in this hotel until I read the up to date reviews on this site....they're awful!! Can anyone shed any light on this hotel?
i always think at the end of season the reviews arnt always favorable, often due to the weather,it can often cloud ( )the judgement.we have booked a week here and the reviews havent put me off,i have been watching this resort for a few years and the reviews are mostly good to excellent.i think you have to go with no illusions its a 3 star all inclusive and a very good one at that.you can even get ai on the beach which is a big bonus for me as i prefer the beach to the pool(dont do the towels on the sunbed farce).i would rather pay for the beds for the day.compared to many ai in the same price range it seems to offer good value for money with several choices of where to eat.i say if you like the look of it book it.i know someone whos been for 2 weeks this year and they loved everything about it. mo.
