Apparently Sandals Inn is closed due to refurb, hope it didnt cost you any extra for the upgrade. Have a good flight over,
hi kings....no, no extra cost...and even managed a room upgrade which is good!!!not too long now... hopefully the rain would have stopped by then!!still as ive been told a rainy day in jamaica beats a sunny day back home!!!
What type of room did they give you. We have 2 vouchers, 1 for a beachfront luxury room and 1 for a grand lux room. We are only taking the beach front luxury room voucher. Long range forcast is getting better and it is nearly the end of the rainy season so i should think we will be ok.
this time next week you will be like a cat on a hot tin roof hope you have a fab time and come back with a fantastic feedback for me i only want the truth
Weather is looking dam good as well according to long term forcast.
dont know if i will get another chance before you fly out so have a fantastic holiday and enjoy yourselves to the max hope it all goes well happy holidays

I'll leave it as i find it, weather forcast is still good, will look out for Lisa.
Been checking feedback from other sites and 95% of it is still very favourable. Will give full and honest report on my return.
36 hours and i'll be on me way
We are thinking of going to a sandals resort in Jamaica, probably the Sandals Inn or Montego Bay one.
Can anyone give details if they have been, what they thought, or what they have heard etc...
Also some local info would also be useful. going out on tours, going out at night.
or would you suggest just a normal tour opperator (first choice etc) trip.
We are a couple in our early 20's.
Thank You
Neil
See this thread ( lower down this page ) and await their trip reports !

Scubaman
we have booked to go to sandals royal caribbean in may/june next year and looking at most of the reports all 3 resorts in montego bay are ok. apparently snadals mo bay is the more lively - royal caribbean is supposed to be ore refined however whichever one you choose its not a problem as you can do exchange dining and visit the other local resorts by a free shuttle bus. we are waiting for a feedback from kingsfolly when they come back in about 2 weeks time. have fun looking and even more fun booking
From the moment you get to Sandals desk at montego bay airport till you leave the staff could not be more helpfull.
After getting through immigration, bit drawn out, you get to the Sandals desk and hey youve arrived. They take your bags and send you into a room to wait for transfer to hotel, help yourself to what ever you like while waiting, managed 3 ice cold draught beers in 15 miniutes till bell boy took bags to coach. 15 min transfer to SRC. Greeted by assisatant manergeress with a hand shake and please sit down. Cold towel and glass of champers while you check in. Cant be bad i say. then on to your room, still not allowed to touch your case till you get to your room.
Very spacious and very clean rooms, ok they are a bit musty to start with but that is down to AC, have had that everytime you geta room with AC.
Dinning rooms very clean and a very extensive menu, ok the menus dont change that much but so much choice you dont need to have them differant everyday. Food was good, hot and plentifull.
The Thai restaurant on the island, 2 min transfer by boat is very good. Book early to avoid dissapointment.
Pools and grounds very clean, beach is small but very clean and big enough for the amount of people there.
10 pm the grill bar opens for snacks till 3 am, great jerk burgers on your way back to the room after a few to many beers ( hic). Say hi to O'neil the night time cook, such a friendly chap, always has a smile and loves to chat.
Entertainment was good for holidays, better than most we have had to put up with in the past, very entertaining and of good quality. The play makers are always about but not pushy, if you dont feel like joining in they dont mind, but always talk to you even if you dont join in.
Piano bar is quite small but once again big enough for the amount of people there, seems to be the hub of the early evening and when it rains, and boy when it rains it rains. Had a few nights of absolutle downpours, never seen so much rain in such a short space of time, at least it was warm rain.
Did the PADI open water scuba diving course was had work in such a short space of time but well worth it. For our first experiance of scuba diving we thought it was great, Damion out teacher was great, he spent loads of time with us even after we had completed the course and came down with us whenever we went diving.
Places to avoid.......Sandals Montego Bay... went to OK Coral restaurant and Tokyo Joes. Book very early for Tokyo Joe, excellant restaurant but had to get into, ok Coral once again great steaks, no booking nessesary. Why avoid montego bay sandals.............it is at the end of the runway and when planes take of you can see the ppls faces on the plane, good for eating not for sleeping.
Dress code mainly is Smart shorts in most restaurants, but take a pair of long trousers in case things change. Long trousers are required for the Thai and no flip flops allowed for any restaurant in the evening or swimming shorts.
In general what you see int the brouchere is what your going to get, no grumpy staff, a clean resort, would we go back....YOU BET.
There is a no tipping policy in force.....please adhere to this, if the staff are caught taking tips it is instant dismissal, jobs are hard to find and im sure you would feel bad if you offered a tip and they were seen taking it only to get sacked.
TO SCUBAMAN
Did not make it to Sandals Inn, no buses running as it was closed and we were told we would not even be able to look around, so scubaman that one is now down to you to report on.
In Room Bar
Well stocked with litre of rum, gin and vodka on optic and a fridge full off sort drinks and beer, topped up every day, cleaning staff every day to make your bed and turn your bed down every evening about 8 pm, that also was included as standard.
Hope this helps, anything ive forgotten i will post later as with any more questions. We hope your time there is as good as ours.
Avoid Sandals Montego Bay unless your a plane spotter. It is situated at the end of the runway and boy when them planes take off even up to 11 pm at night, if your in bed youll end up jumping out. We have just returned from Sandals Royal Caribbean a bit further up the road, but went to Sandals Montego bay one for a few meals, im glad we were 10 mins up the road. Sandals Inn is at the beggining of the runway but a bit further off, you will get a little plane noise but nothing like the Sandals Montego bay hotel
Welcome back to the not quite so tropical temperatures !
Thanks for your report, we are even more encouraged now that we will have a super time in February.
No worries about Sandals Inn but thanks for trying, it seems the info that it was being refurbished was correct then.
What were the dive sites like ? When you have got back into the old routine again maybe you could post a bit of detail about them.
Scubaman
Apologies for butting in, just wanted to say a lovely report Kingsfolly. We're off to Sandals Grande in Ocho Rios on 26/12 and hopefully will have the same great time you guys appear to have had. I'm very taken with your quote of "what you see in the brochures is what you get". Thanks for taking the time to report. Regards Scoya.
I have checked out your review now - obviously !
Was your upgrade voucher of any use ? Have spoken to my Travel Agent but they couln't help with vouchers.
9 weeks and counting
Scubaman
Scubaman, the upgrade voucher was from travel agent and not Sandals, but saying that the room we had was great, was one under beachfront grand lux room, so was a very good quality room. As for the dive sites, we were and still are novices, there were a few experianceddivers within our group most said the dive sites were good but one who hadn't dived for about 5 years i think, well he said they were no good. I took the word of the regular divers. There is a wreck of a DC3 plane just off the coast, we missed that dive as we had booked a day out in the back of a jeep being thrown about, if we had known we would have done the dive instead. Another nice afternoon out is Rafting on the Martha Brea, but be warned take loads of mossie repellant, i dont nornally get bitten but i think i had kamakasi mossies that day giving me years of bites.
I hope your time at Sandals is as good as ours, i did hear that where your going is suppose to be even better, but that is only by talking to people there that had been to both.
