Work should have finished on 15th or 16th but the next day there was still work going on and one of the hotels close by phoned the police who arrived and stopped the work, but - they were still at it the next day, hopefully by now is resolved and should not commence again until the 16th of september. Doesnt seem to have been much noise with the work and they appear to start not to early in the morning
Thanks for your help
It does cater well for the kids, so if you have any they will def enjoy them selfs, happy hour goes down a treat. Try and get a pool view, and floor 5 and above, so your are looking over the top of the opp.. building out to sea,
Hi snowery, thankyou for letting me know what the hotel is like.Im glad you enjoyed your holiday.3 weeks today then we are off, really looking forward to it now.My 10 year old daughter cant wait.Thankyou again for your help carlyh
Im currantly staying at this hotel. Its avery lovely hotel, rooms are nice and the food is fine.Swimming pool is small for the size of the hotel.Hotel staff are very friendly.Weather is lovely and hot,in fact its too hot for me.I would come back to this hotel again in afew years
There is a hotel getting built up opposite the front of the hotel but in the week I was there, there were nothing getting done on it and it actually made it easier for us to find our hotel after a walk around the place
It's close to the beach which is also good.
Only bad thing was we were kicked out of our room at midday and our coach wasn't even coming to pick us up until 13 and a half hours later!!!! That was very unfair we felt as did other people there because we had to sit around and walk around and we were so tired.
But overall it was a great holiday and enjoyed it. Hardly any kids there either when we were there although on the day we were returning loads were checking in with their folks so I'm glad we left when we did hahaha!
Have a nice time when you go!!!
Hope other people have had a nice time here
we are going in 2 week, 4th oct 05 and just received a letter from portland saying the building work is still going on and that there will be dust etc.
Have the rooms kettles or hair dryers.
Hav`nt been aboard for years, the kids first holiday aboard.
getting excited now,
Hope you enjoy it though, the staff are nice, especially in the restaurant (well, they were to us, they treated us like royalty for some reason. Odd).
Have fun!
Hi guys, just came over from the Ibiza forum now that my holiday there has been and gone, now we are looking to book a holiday for sept 06 for two weeks and stumbled across the santa monica, I couldn't believe the cost so I thought was is the catch, I see alot of you are worried about the building work, does anyone know when the site will be finished?? I'm not too worried as it seems they stop all building work for the high season so hopefully I would only be there for a few days if they were to start up again. This hotel only has 2*'s does it show, I have read the reviews and the newer reviews seem great, but some of the older ones are a bit of a concern, hopefully the management have listened to us Brits. Also what is the area like, I will be taking my son, who would be 3, he is quite easily amused so don't need entertaining all the time, as long as theres a pool and a few little extras. Also is there any good buys, trips to go on, any info would be highly appreciated and well if none of you get in there before me, I will book and maybe see some of you out there next season
Should be able to keep the young one entertained, there's a pool, nightly entertainment (for kids mainly), and there's plenty of shops near by, and the main little town area is only a short walk away.
Definitely worth going, the food is wonderful there too
I also stayed at this hotel in july ,this is alovely hotel great for the kids and the food was very good.Ive just booked to go back in august next year.I agree with the other person this hotel was a 3 star not a 2 star when we went. You will sorry this hotel and the building work was no problem
Sorry i should have you will love this hotel.
everlasting and carlyh I'm really keen on going as we can go for two weeks for the same price as other holidays that are charging the same price or more just for one week, but hubby found another review site where it said that if your a non smoker the whole hotel is smoking apart from restuarant, which I wouldn't mind for myself its our two yr old. Unsure wether this has changed, would be greatful of any ideas. I think the hotel has always been 2* but it has a SSS rating, I think the S's are from customers reviews but the *'s are from the offical people, don't know what they are called, could be wrong tho. I have been quoted £640 for three of us 2A+1C for two weeks from luton mid september which I thought was a bargain.
It's certainly a nice place and for two weeks for that price it's a bargain. I paid about the same as that for just the one week. Wish I could have stayed two week. Enjoy yourself and let us know what you think when you return!
yes smoking is allowed in the bar area.I didnt take much notice of anywhere eles. That was a really good price you got for 2 weeks
Lorraine
I went in mid July. Don't have any kids though.
everlasting, sounds like the hotel has listened to its comments box, as I spoke to someone yesterday who went 2 yrs ago and they said you couldn't help but notice how smoky the whole hotel was, they said even the hotel staff were smoking thanks again for your replies
