Hi i am a full time wheelchair user, i went away with my daughter and 2 grandchildren aged 12 and 5 in september to benidorm and stayed at the hotel princessa,we were given 2 connecting rooms on the first floor, two bathrooms and a balcony so lots of room to move around in my chair, the shower was over the bath but the baths seem very low, beds changed every day, very clean hotel, food was of good standed,i think there were 3 pools, fitness room, spa, entertainment each night, and just far enough away from the beach and bars about a 15 minute walk so no noise,i think the hotel has been one of the best that i have stayed in in spain,i didnt want a long flight in case i needed the loo ?so just over 2 hours was long enough,i hadnt been to benidorm before so wasnt sure what i would find, but i was pleased to find i could get in most of the shops, cafes, and also a good long stroll along the beach front, the kids loved it ,the only down fall was i hired an electric wheelchair from the british wheelchair company, the chair was rubbish, dirty, and i wouldnt of put my dog in it ?so i complained they brought another but that wasnt much better i e mailed the company but they just sent the e mail back, hope this is of some help. :)

Hi my husband is a full time wheelchair user and for the last three years we have used the Mar y Sol in Tenerife. The hotel is well equipped for wheelchair users with roll-in-showers,ramps etc. The wheel down to the seafront is manageable but coming back up it could require a little help from the non wheelchair user. Their is plenty to do in Los Cristianos and once on the level you can go all the way into Las Americas. The hotel has two pools and if you go at the end of July there are always plenty of English families. We have made some good friends who meet up every year. Although the entertainment at night is geared up to the spanish during the day there is usually games and water polo organised in the pool area. The hotel is spotless and if you get the superior apartments the are very roomy. Accessible holidays and Access Travel both book this Hotel and arrange Transfer from the airport which is a great help. Good Luck on findin a suitable holiday

PS i have looked at specialist websites but they mostly have hotel or villas and we need some entertainment for the lads to stop them getting bored

you know as much as I like to think of myself of being aware, when it comes to posting about travelling with any sort of problem or different need, It hardly ever crosses my mind that there is also the family to think of and they need other things not just wide doorways ..!

but then again I suppose thats part of the things that are catered for without asking.. unless you go to a specialist hotel/village that is total geared towards disabilities and forgets about people who want to do other activities..

(was just airing my thoughts)...

I think i see what your saying.
Our main problem appears to be we are a family of 4 and most hotels adapt rooms that can take a max of 2 adults and one child under 12.So doubling the cost of the holiday because you need two rooms.
Still has been a learning experience and we will get the holiday booked that Mrs banana deserves..............eventually. :)

We were always a family of 6 before they grew up so we often had to get 2 rooms and yes what a difference it makes to costs....

My partner and myself have just started managing cottages in San Stefanos - we are scottish and live in the village. We can supply a choice of propeties; cottages with private rear patio, :D 1 min from the beach 5 min from the village life. A large apartment (very suitable) with pool . All properties would suit your needs. There are no steps / hills
