You will find a big difference to Blackpool :) But hopefully you will enjoy it.
A lot will depend on the weather if you like beaches they are miles of magnificent deserted beaches. The one below Bamburgh Castle is fairly close If you are into history there are loads of castles in the area. There are some amusements in Seahouses for the kids top trips to places of interest:
Bamburgh Castle,
Holy Island,
Farne Islands (boat trip)

I echo what the previous poster said. We love Seahouses and Northumberland, and Seafields is a lovely site, although they`ve made quite a few changes since the last time we were there in 2000, mainly the leisure centre and extra super pitches, there were only 2 last time we went. A short drive away there is a tiny little place called Low Newton by the sea, nothing there but a pub (great food) and a little shop/post office and a beach, but it`s really nice, and not very far away from a nature reserve.

Hi

We are at the seafileds site for the august bank holiday. We had a drive up to check it out and the beach was fab!! The harbour was very traditional and it seemed a very quaint but quiet seaside village.

have a fab time

We camped near Seahouses when our kids were young and had a great time. There are some lovely beaches in the area and we ended up joining the National Trust as there are quite a few of their properties in the area too, if you are interested - Dunstanburgh Castle, Cragside, Lindisfarne Castle and the Farne islands, to name a few. We enjoyed the boat trip to the Farne Islands particularly but we were there in early June when the birds were nesting and you can get quite close.

MariaH, that`s when we went on the boat trip out to the islands, early June, and it was wonderful being able to get so close to the nesting birds, but not too close so as to upset them. It was a great experience, but not something I`ll be able to do again as I`m not as agile as I used to be. Holy Island (Lindisfarne) was good too, but we enjoyed the priory and local church more than the castle, although there was a lovely view from the top.

We enjoyed Holy Island too - keep an eye on the tides if you go, so you don't get stuck there. We also had the most delicious fresh crab sandwiches there, sold by a little old lady from her doorway. Alnwick Castle is worth a visit too - the children may recognise it as it was used in the Harry Potter ands other films. http://www.alnwickcastle.com Must go back to Northumbria sometime.

Definately Alnwick Castle and Gardens. Pay for the full ticket and have a full day there. The 'Knight School' in the castle is brilliant. It was just being launched when we went and was out of school hols so no kids around - me and a friend ended up in the stocks, in chain mail etc etc !

We also had a meal in the largest treehouse in the World - interesting venue, but food was only OK, service was dreadful. All the waitress kept going on about was how tired she was and how she didn't like walking up and down the stairs!

If you should get a wet day there is a place pot-a -doodle or something like that!!! where the kids can go and paint plaster models and plates etc. The farne Islands boat trip is excellent and of course the beaches are wonderful. We spent many happy hours with buckets and nets fishing around in the rock pools. If you fancy going further afield you can do Edinburgh in little over an hour- you could make a long day of it and do the castle etc.

Have fun- it's a beautiful part of the country

Just returned from a hectic 5 days.
Holy Island, Berwick, Alnwick Castle and Gardens ( stoped doing the joint ticket so it worked out expensive), boat trip to Farne Islands which was spectacular, loads of grey and common seals and not to mention loads of walks on the beach.
Seafields is a beautiful site, quiet, well landscaped with wild rabbits and ducks living around the water features. Caravans are well spaced out and most of them face west so get the sun most of the day. It was a safe haven for children to play in as everyone respected the speed limits, (not the site for the boy racer types) I would highly recommend Seafields but if your one of the " Butlin" type brigade, this is not for you! No club house, amusement arcades, no Bradley bear and no gangs of kids hanging around all over.
