I haven't been to the seaside in years, and having recently bought a car, I have much more freedom to travel!
Having lived in Yorkshire all my life, most of my seaside experiences (as a child) have been in the North.
We are thinking of going to the southcoast for a couple of days in a few weeks, and it doesn't have to be at the weekend.
I went to Bournemouth a couple of years ago, and would like to visit the south coast again. Where do people recommend? I'd like a nice beach, nice restaurants and if anyone knows anywhere cheap to stay.
Thanks x

Where to go depends on your interests. South coast from Yorkshire?
Hm-m long drive. I'd sit on the M1, M42, M6, M5 (can easily break the journey at a Travel Lodge) and end up at Torbay. Probably Paignton, or for a quieter few days maybe Brixham. Pretty harbours, plenty of shops, traditional seaside (chips on a tray for elevenses, lunch, tea and supper, and all that activities) - or quiet coastal walks and a boat trip up the river at Dartmouth.
We can usually find a good, reasonably priced B+B using Where to go depends on your interests. South coast from Yorkshire?

Although there's a huge choice of good restaurants, the beach isn't very nice, too many stones!
Southwold and Aldeburgh in Suffolk
Why don't you drive to Wales some beautiful beaches, on the Gower coast, and then of course you got Tenby and surrounding areas as well, you will have a fab time
It has everything you need there. A perfect British holiday resort. If you fancy a quiet beach, jump in the car and thre or four miles up the road there are lots of lovely coves. And it's all so very clean :-)
Swanage in Dorset has to be the most relaxing resort in England. It has lovely beaches, good resturants and is very pretty. It had hardly changed when I visited in 2003 from 1980.You dont get ripped off as you do in a lot of other resorts. We stayed in a little guest house just behind the park but the landlady was retireing so it may have a different name now.Just ask the tourist information to send you a guide, you wont regret it its beautiful.
Still pondering where to go. Present thoughts might be Edinburgh after all that! Plenty of time in Summer though.
