I believe Anatolian Sky does s/c apartments in Olu Deniz.

There is no SC in Olu. You would need to stay at Hisaronu in the mountains.

But there are wooden chalets on the lagoon (but I wouldn't stay in them).

kimevans - as I said there IS s/c in Olu Deniz. I have the 2007 Anatolian Sky brochure and it is clearly there! I particularly noticed it as previously I had thought there was none.

there is a limited amount of sc at the back of olu behind the tower
the caravan on genc beach are for sc hire and are static with air condition a nice place to lay your hat for a break from the norm

Here you go, this is the website for the S/c apartments I mentioned. They are at the Hotel Flamingo:-

Try this http://www.lyciandreams.com - they are self catering, and look lovely.

thanks for your help, guys.

Lycian Dreams and Flamingo apartments look lovely - but slightly beyond our budget in September at £60 per night.

I'm getting the feeling we will have to make some compromises, and either stay in a hotel, or go to Hisaronu after all. A shame, as Olu Deniz seems much more our kind of resort, but self catering is a really important aspect of our holidays.

I'm not sure my boyfriend is ready for caravans on the beach... although I'm going to suggest it anyway!

thanks

I very much doubt whether the Flamingo would charge anything like £60 per night in September! Their website doesn't seem to give prices. Why don't you email them and ask for a quote?

We picked up people from there on our jeep safari. It is at the back of the resort and looked nice enough, but not an expensive sort of place.

S?C is much better, with more shops for basics in Hisonaru......... a dolmus to the beach is easy...... and is much better......

Having been to both areas Turunc wins hands down for the area and accommodation. Could not stand the hassle in Hisoranou of people wanting to get you into their shops or restaurants. It really wore me down. It was so nice to return to the tranquility and friendliness of Turunc.

if you like the flamingo try med hotels they are very cheap for the apartments 499.99 for 2 weeks in july for the 4 of us.

This place is nearly a kilometer from the beach front at Olu, its halfway up the mountain to Hisaronu!
OP beware lots af accomodation in this region says Olu Deniz, but its really just near it.

This one is much nearer.

I always used to go S/C, but never cooked, always ate out. It was just what we NEARLY always done. When I first went to Olu, I looked for S/C by the beach in Olu (there is none). So we went AI & ate in the hotel which the food was really good in, but also ate out every other night to stop us getting bored.

Kimevans is giving misleading info I'm afraid! Flamingo is in Olu Deniz, but as I said it is at the back of the resort. It is not halfway up any hills. It is exactly at the point where the road starts to go uphill to Hisaronu. Certainly not 'uphill' for anyone unless they have serious mobility problems! And the walk to the seafront, well, 'nearly a km' is only half a mile, 10 minutes walk, down the main shopping/restaurant street. Nowhere is far from anywhere in OD, it's not that big.

Hi Mistywillow,

If I were you I would book a SC apartment in Ovacik. It is very quiet there; there's lots of places to choose from - and it's only a ten minute dolmus drive to the beach at Olu Deniz. A very pretty drive too!

Dolmus' go every few minutes from Ovacik to Olu and cost 1.5L

Hope that helps.

Hi

The Flamingo is the 2nd furthest from the beach on this map HERE

is it the facilities of self catering you need or just that you want to not eat in a hotel.I have found over the years that its cheaper to stay in a hotel than a self catering apartment. You can then choose to eat in the hotel or eat out .

We like the independence of self catering - and also the extra space you usually get in an apartment. We normally eat out at night anyway, but we do like to prepare our own breakfasts and lunches, and don't really want to miss out on that

The Flamingo looks like it would be good value for 4, as they are 4 person apartments, but as there are only 2 of us, the price works out to be beyond our budget

We'll have a think about the advantages of a hotel vs self catering further afield. We are now wondering whether somewhere in Hisaronu or Fethiye might be a better option for us (also looking more into Ovacik - thanks, Strawberry)

Thanks to everyone for your help on this topic- I wasn't sure I'd even get a reply, but you've all been really helpful!

Hisaronu and Ovacik are alot more flexible with OD only 10 minutes away and its also a little bit cooler in the summer months which comes as a nice relief from the heat and humidity of OD worth a look 8)
