We enjoyed Christmas in Benidorm but did not rate the Ocas. Next time we go, probably in Autumn,we would prefer self catering (after the first two days we ate out anyway). The location was ideal for us so can anyone suggest self catering accomodation near the Pelicanos/Ocas or Ambassador.Perhaps as far along as the Marina
Ideally we would like a room with a balcony and a reception. A pool does not matter.
Any suggestions welcome please.

Would of suggested the Torremar, but these are now private lets.
A far nicer apartment block are the Halley Apartments which may be slightly further away from the square but far better in quality. These apartments are near the Ocas and of all the apartments I have stayed in whilst in Benidorm I think these have been the best.
ps. I booked them through Easyhotels! So also VERY cheap!
Should also have told you to try the Benidorm Spotlight website as they have a good range of apartments available for let on there! I have also used this site to book apartments and found it safe and reliable.

I really would love to stay in Les Dunes Suites for my next holiday to Benidorm. Right on the front and great reviews.
A far nicer apartment block are the Halley Apartments
I was recently asked to check out the Halley apartments on behalf of some friends and the maintanance man kindly showed me around one of the 2 bedroomed apartment. I have to truthfully say, I was far from impressed.
The pool area looked nice and clean but as soon as I stepped in to the building I knew instantly that I could never stay there. The reception wasn't at all inviting, the lifts were shabby with graffiti on the walls and the apartment, although it was clean and reasonably well equipped, was very dated and dingy.
In fairness, perhaps the other apartments in the block are better and this might have been the only one not occupied at the time and at the end of the day, I believe that you get what you pay for.
The Halley apartments are very reasonably priced and they do seem to get good reviews on the forum. but they weren't for me.

If you walk into an apartment to be hit by a "funny smell" then nine times out of ten it is the bidet! If no-one uses it for a week, the water evaporates from the U-bend and then air can get through from the sewer. Just run the water on the bidet to refill it and then open the apartment windows to let the smell out.
If anyone knows any webistes for long-term renatl apartments in Benidorm please can you let me know. Looking to stay for about 6 months until we can find permanent residents
Thank you
Sarah
