I'm planning to spend the New Year in Egypt (from 27th of Dec. to 3rd of Jan.) I've never been in Egypt before and I'm thinking between Sharm el Sheik and Hurghada. I've looked through weather history in the area and it looks like 20 - 22 max Celsius if I'm lucky.

What I'd like to know is the avg. water temperature around New Year in Sharm/Hurghada, is it possible to do some swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving? Where should I expect less wind and warmer days and water, in Hurghada or in Sharm?

If you were to chose between Sharm and Hurghada - which would you chose? I'm not looking for luxury and to spend a fortune, I'm looking for a good time and relaxation, decent hotels, nice shore for swimming, and maybe some scuba-diving/snorkeling... and other things that can be done there (any suggestions??)

From what I saw at local traveling agencies Sharm is more expensive. Is it worth the money?

Thank you
