Yes there are fridges in the rooms
I'm going on 8 September. Do you have any idea which rooms are one the beach, or in a very quiet location. I have e-mailed to hotel to request it but they haven't replied yet. I stayed at the Movenpick last year and loved it. I only hope we like the Sheraton as much. It was £150 cheaper this year than the Movenpick.
Thanks Nile Beauty!
I e-mailed the hotel yesterday asking if they had been effected by recent events in harm and they said they had. They upgraded our rooms fo us, which makes me think they are really struggling. I hope we are not the only people there.
Hi, have just read on the Going Places / Panorama site that this hotel is newly refurbished, does anyone know which bits have been done. Is it the whole hotel, public rooms or bedrooms. We are not going till August so there is plenty of time to find out... its just I`m curious.
Hello everyone, if any of you have beent o the sheraton miramar in el gouna, can you tell me if you had a particularly nice rrom and what number it was? Id like to put in a request with the management for a particular room if any of you have any recommendations. Cheers!
I have been to this Hotel in September (see previous post). My room was facing the lagoon and was a nice room, unfortunately I cannot remember the number.
When I visited in September 05, I did not like the hotel and it was very empty and seemed to lack any atmosphere, even downtown was quiet, according to the locals. This was one of the reasons why I did not like the area, I am not into clubbing or any of that, however this Hotel is so large, that if it is empty you really feel it. One day I walked for 10mins and did not see a soul!!
The Hotel is gorgeous so if you have been upgraded, then I imagine that your room will be very nice. It was'nt for me, but looking at this discussion, lots of people do like it.
Have a great time, and enjoy.
I am assuming you can do the Cairo trip from El Gouna in the same way as Sharm.
Thanks to anyone who replies.
Just got back, we loved it. Hotel was 80% full we were told, don`t know where everyone went. Saw some at breakfast, some by the pool and others on the beach. I hate places that are overcrowded and noisy.
Grounds wondeful you could wander round the pathways and bridges and hardly see anyone, the flowers and gardens were lovely.
It was a wonderful relaxing holiday. Katie (9) had a great time in the pool and snorkling off the pier she met a friend and did not get bored. We also learnt to waterski. There were children there of all ages.
Downtown was busier than the Marina at night - we didn`t care for the Marina much and preferred to go to Tamar Hena and Downtown were there was more atmosphere and I think nicer restaurants.
We have been to Sharm and stayed in Hilton Sharm Dreams, hotel and pools great. We did however, prefer El Gouna to Naama Bay. (there is a lot more going on in Naama Bay than El Gouna) We are very lazy on holiday and do like to lie around the pool/beach and read, Katie just likes to swim and play in a warm pool.
Sorry can`t be of any more help. You will love the hotel and the grounds.
You were lots of help. I am still a bit undecided as I am worried that the weather may not be as good there as it is in Sharm (we went 17th April this year and will probably go at a similar time next year and think it might be more windy than Sharm) I didnt realise that you could snorkel there, I thought you might have to go on a boat trip to do this, so that is a definate plus.
I have been pricing up with Portland and on the Going Places web-site (Panorama, Airtours etc) as well. Who did you travel with?
How are the rooms. Is it 2 Queen sized beds per room or do they do family rooms? I think the prices I had were for 2 rooms, hopefully they would give me interconnecting ones like I had last year when they see we are a family.
Not sure on weather in April, August I thought was great it was very hot but there was a breeze most of the time, the day we came home it was very strong, but very welcome.
We travelled with Panaorama and flew MyTravel from Manchester.
Our room had kingsize bed and fold up bed for Katie, she said it was OK.
(do prefer sofa beds though) Katies little friend had a room with her brothers which was next door to her mum and dad don` think it was connecting though just next door. I am sure if you e`mail the hotel they would be able to tell you if they have any. They are very helpful.
The snorking from the pier about a 5min walk from the hotel beach (pier is on Zetouna Beach) they said they saw lots of fish I looked down from pier and didn`t see many big ones, maybe you needed to go out a little way. Last year in Sharm just stood in the water in front of Hilton Fayrouz and there were loads all around my legs. Lots of people did go on snorkling and diving trips and saw loads.
I am not really the best person to advise about snorkling. Prefer a lilo in the pool.
Thomas Cook also go to this hotel and their rep was lovely - ours was by appointement and it was like trying to get an audience with the queen.
Hope this helps, ask if I can help any more just ask.
I also prefer lilo in pool, but my husband and daughter did the snorkelling in Sharm. But we are easy about it really, if it's there we do it, if it isn't we aren't too bothered. I take it there are places to walk to in the evening (Tamar Hena?)so the you dont always have to eat in the Sheratons restaurant. Enough restaurants for 7 nights hopefully.
Sorry for so many questions
Hi, I went to the Sheraton in march/april this year. Weather was lovely, around 30 degrees with a nice breeze...2 days the breeze was a little more than a breeze really, but nice none the less. My 15 year old cousing came with us, he had a great time. There snorkelling off th jetty at that time of year was appauling if a little dangerous, but you can go out in boats from the dive centre at the hotel for about £8 for 2 hours and get some good snorkelling in. The pool was lovely and the entertainment people try and get everyone involved. Night time is a little dull at the hotel, limited entertainment. But the nice thing about el gouna is that there are regulations in place which mean people cant hassle you, so you can go to downtown or the marina and not worry about being bothered its lovely. I would strongly recommend going, its a fantastic hotel. We had two rooms next to each other, one had a double bed, the other had two large singles. They do ajoining family rooms but you'd have to enquire. The staff are very helpful and the hotel is beautiful, any questions feel free to PM me
The tour operators offer quite a lot of trips, Cairo, Luxor etc. I would have liked to fly to Cairo but it worked out too expensive for a day out.
Loads of restaurants you could do a different one each night and still not visit them all. You get the bus to Downtown or the Marina and its perfectly safe to walk around, I felt safer here than anywhere else I have been. We did not eat at hotel in the evenings I get bored and like to try different places.
to you both. I've only just realised the time and have work tomorrow . I love this site, so helpful, may have more questions. Must admitt am I very tempted if I can get a good deal.
