Hi
Thinking of going away for Oct school holidays (last week in Oct). We are considering taking our Grandaughter who will be nearly 3yrs.
She has never been on a plane before and we are looking for a flight that is not too long. Ideally 2-3 hr flight. I have thought about mainland Spain, Costa Blanca/del Sol, but I am unsure if the weather is ok at that time of year. Dont want to take her and not be able to go on the beach.
Any ideas of where might be a good place to go to in Oct.
Thanks
M
The Canary Islands, for the best weather, Lanzarote is under 4hrs so only a bit longer on the plane.
The Costas might be okay weather wise although it is always a gamble at that time of year, but they are the shortest flight.
We go to Benidorm the first two weeks of Oct, and had good weather, but it can change around the middle of the month.....Caz
how about Tunisia , we went last year the same time you are wanting to go and the weather was glorious , people on the beach , swimming in the sea and sunbathing around the pool
Another vote for Tunisia. A 3 hour flight and usually excellent weather. Strangely enough I discovered the place many years ago during one February half-term, when I had to fit in with school holidays. I''ll be back there myself next month, but not in the school half-term.
And another vote for Tunisia! Another advantage is that your money is likely to go further there than in the Eurozone.
Thanks for your replies, never been to Tunisia so will be somewhere different for us all. Will have a browse and see what I can find

went to nerja in costa del sol last year end of October and had lovely weather. swam in the sea every day. Have also holidayed in Almeria in Spain at this time of year, also good weather. Did have friends that went to the costa del sol at the same time a few years back and the holiday was a washout. Best to go for the Canaries to make really sure.
I would say Tunisia too, short flight, good weather and beautiful beaches.
Another vote for Tunisia here! Were there in October and weather was perfect. Lovely sandy beaches for wee ones to play in too.
Oh goodness, what a lot of Tunisian devotees on here. Perhaps the Tunisian tourist board could put us on their payroll (or even give us free holidays!) I'll be back there next month and am hoping for some lovely sunshine.
Friends of ours (family of 4) all came home with quite bad tummy bugs which would worry me with a young child.
What a good idea Aslemma! Maybe we should suggest it to them I could do with a free week or 2 in Tunisia! The budget hasn't stretched to a trip this year yet - so short of a last minute miracle, it's looking like next year now. If so, this will be the first year in about 7 that I haven't been . And usually I've gone more than once a year.

I wouldn't be put off by the thought of getting a tummy bug, you can pick one up in any country and Tunisia is no better or worse that any other destination. Take the same precautions as you would anywhere and you should be fine.
I've travelled to many countries both third world(including Tunisia) and European and in almost 50 years of travelling have only suffered from bad stomach upsets twice, one was in Spain when I ended up in bed for 10 days with food poisoning and last week when visiting the UK I suffered from very severe diarrhoea which I still haven't fully recovered from after eating a quite innocuous meal in what seemed to be a nice restaurant.
I'll second what Judith has said. I've been to Tunisia about 15 times in the last 7 years and have been ill twice. And of that 1 time was only a couple of days, so was more likely to be something not agreeing with me than anything more serious. The worst cases of food poisoning I've had have been here in the UK.
Over the past 11 years I've eaten in the hotels, restaurants and cafés, roadside stalls and also local homes in Tunisia and never been ill. I was, however, very unwell in Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
