Should I be worried?

Hi, looking for some advice. I made a direct booking with a hotel, last April for 14 nights SC for myself & my husband. We received an e-mail from the hotel confirming our booking, and they asked us to foward on a cheque for a small amount, which they would return to us on our arrival. Great

However, for the past 2 weeks I have been trying to get in touch with the hotel (as we have an early morning arrival), but have not had any replies to my e-mails

and as a result, I am a bit concerned about our booking. Should I be worried, or am I just being paranoid? We travel in less than 2 weeks. Booking direct is a new thing to us, as we have always used the travel agent in the past.

Any advice??

Can you find a telephone number for them? it might be the best way to get their attention.

Yes, you must phone them. You can never be 100% certain that an eMail has got through and some companies who don`t rely on eMails much can forget about checking them for days or weeks.

Hi, yes, I found a telephone number for them. I have sent them a fax message (this morning), but I still have not had a reply. I've sent 5-6 e-mail messages in the past 2 weeks, and I am getting very worried. When I first got in contact with them re. a reservation, they couldn't have been more helpful and efficent with answering my mail :shock:

We travel in less than 2 weeks. I will give them until tomorrow, and then ring them (I hate the thoughts of it though :roll:

)

If all comes to all, we will have to book another hotel (at least we haven't paid any money to them). We have a choice of the below, all in Tsilivi:-

a) Park Hotel
b) Mediterranee Hotel
c) Princess Hotel

Anyone have any ideas on which we should choose as back-up.

Ah - it's a GREEK hotel - give them a call by all means, but I'm sure everything will be fine! I've gone independently for years, but this year booked on the net - they even met our ferry at the port (unfortunately they didn't get us, as we diveed past in search of a taxi!!!)

Remember in Greece everything still happens "siga siga", and that the last 2 weeks are the peak of their domestic holiday season - in fact the 15th August is the second biggest bank holiday after Easter.....so they may be a bit preoccupied!

I love Greece and have every respect for them but I think you should be worried and siga siga would not be satisfactory for me knowing the meaning or not all our years of traveling Greece have never been asked to put money up first like this year the banks were on strike and our host was prepared to lend us money to eat (which we did not have to do) and send a cheque from England yes the area we go we have been going for many years, but I hope you get to Greece and like it and the people.

I sent another fax message yesterday, and got a very nice reply from the hotel, confirming our requested room and booking

Yay! Can relax now and look forward to our holiday, in 8 days time :sun

I was probably being a bit paranoid, but with it being the first time booking direct, I was a bit nervous :oops:

Hi,
You say you booked directly with the hotel. Which airline did you book with? and where are you flying from and to? I wouldn't mind booking direct myself but can't seem to find an airline without booking the package.

Shirley I booked flight with Direct Holidays going to Rhodes from Manchester £151 including meals taxes etc, does not include transfers.

Can get flights only to some greek islands

Thanks both,

I'd need flights from Cardiff or Bristol and as far as I know the only airlines doing affordable flight only from here are easy jet and bmi baby. They don't go to any of the islands as far as I'm aware. I'll have to get researching.
